@thekapman@jasonbenetti@ARizzo44@JoeyVotto@RedsCowboy I muted it and listened to Pat Hughes. Then I saw a lot of positive comments about the broadcast so I put the sound on. AWFUL. Benetti is good, Rizzo getting his chops. But Votto is obnoxious and I can't even come up with words to say how bad Brentley is. Very over-rated.
@angarciatv You are right about this team being inconsistent but by definition that means they could lose immediately in the playoffs or go on a tear and win the World Series. At this point no one can say for sure.
@BleacherNation Swanson's absence has really showed his value to the team. A lot of fans were calling for him to be benched earlier this year because of his hitting struggles but now the team is struggling without him. Defense is under-appreciated in today's game.
@realcubsinsider I agree completely with your analysis. I have to add that championship teams usually have a few players having career years and 2 or 3 pitchers that can take over a game. Unfortunately I don't get that feeling from this team. PCA and Bregman are great, no outstanding pitchers.
@brendan_cubs I don't know that I'm quite as worried as you but I am concerned that there are no pitchers to shut down a playoff-quality team in a short series. Boyd can't be a number one or two starter but who can? Maybe Holmes or Gauzman. Need more time to evaluate them.
@BleacherNation Your site by far gives the best Cubs analysis. In a sport where losing 40% of your games means you're a really good team, so many others take one loss as the end of the world. My biggest worry after last night is can Cubs' pitching shut down a playoff team in a short series.
@FanaticsBook One of these guys had 2 home runs and 3 rbi against the worst team in baseball and this year's MVP played defense, had 3 rbi and 2 homers including the game winner against the team's cross town rival that happens to have the second-best record in the AL.
@Cubs_Daily1 Jacob Webb's 2026 stats compare favorably to those of Daniel Palencia. And he is having current success while Palencia is struggling to return from the IL. I don't know if Palencia will even be able to work his way back into what is now an overcrowded Cubs bullpen.
@jacobzanolla He's also had a lot of balls called strikes and hasn't challenged them. And he's kept the bat on his shoulder for a lot of good pitches including many strike 3's. Is his podcast a distraction? Is he not seeing the ball well? Craig has other options and needs to figure it out.
