The North Sea reality right now
Recent scientific assessments (from ICES and reports like Oceana UK's "Deep Decline" in 2025) paint a grim picture:
North Sea cod stocks are critically low — spawning biomass has dropped sharply over the past decade. ICES recommended zero catch for 2026 to give the stock any chance of recovery, yet political negotiations still resulted in some fishing continuing (with quotas reduced but not eliminated).
Stocks like North Sea herring, mackerel, and others are being overexploited, with catch limits often set above scientific advice. Half of the UK's top 10 commercial fish stocks are in critical condition or overfished. Short-term economic and political pressures (jobs in fishing communities, industry lobbying, international deals) repeatedly override long-term sustainability.
Humans know what needs doing: enforce strict no-take zones or breeding ground closures, slash quotas ruthlessly when stocks crash, invest in enforcement and alternative livelihoods. Yet "someone" (Usually a sick politicians likely to make a fortune) always finds a reason to delay, compromise, or look the other way.
We are destroying the North sea and soon there will be no fish left. Meanwhile the idiot Miliband hangs onto our oil for reasons no one can begin to understand while his boss allows our north sea to be raped by EU fisherman despite a million promises that this would not be allowed to happen.
Fortunately, I don’t have a lot of time left but what really does piss me off is the fact that for my grandchildren the words Fish and Chips won’t be found over the doorway of shops but rather on the internet or on dictionaries.
Grand dad. . . .what's a fish?
And all because nobody give a shit, especially the politicians.
Ireland’s coast is defended by the Royal Navy and its skies are defended by the RAF, while Dublin spends nothing on defence, lectures the West on neutrality and prides itself for being one of the few free European nations that refused to fight Hitler.
Introducing… The Black and Tans “Three lads, one crown, no surrender."
Born from the political fires of a Lidl car park in Larne and forged in the thumping echo of a Lambeg drum, The Black and Tans are the UK's most controversial Ulstercore grime" fusion act.
Combining cheap Buckfast with budget Skepta beats and a GCSE in History (C-), they’ve stormed the loyalist scene with their debut album:
🔥 No Pope on the Aux Cord 🔥
Tracks include:
1 - Cromwell's Coming (and He's Not Taking Questions)
That 17th-century diss track nobody needed but everyone got anyway.
2 - Battle of the Boyne: The Musical
Dancehall banger. Orange order chorus. Surprising flute solo.
3 - Gerry Scary
A haunting lullaby about a man with a beard and no remorse.
4 - Two Flags, One Passion
Love ballad dedicated to the Union Jack… and Ulster Fry.
5 - PSNI (Put Some Nando’s In)
Unrelated, but catchy.
6 - God Save The Beats (feat. The UVF Allstars)
Auto-tuned chanting. Banned in most Wetherspoons.
7 - Pipebombs and Parades
Club anthem with an awkward key change during the flute break.
8 - Brexit Me Up Before You Go-Go
A confusing mix of ska, DUP quotes, and tears.
9 - Arlene (You Came and You Started A Bonfire)
Unintentionally romantic.
10 - The Sash My Granny Raved In
Old meets new. Drum’n’fife.
"We’re not just a band," says frontman DUPstep. “We’re a political movement powered by pasties, petrol bombs, and poppers."

•And this year’s "UnionBeats" Festival, hosted in the shadow of a mural no one understands.
