The full video of a young English men getting arrested by two female police officers after defending himself against an attack by 3 foreigners in Birmingham has now been released.

He swung against one of the officers without connecting half a second after receiving a punch from one of the attackers and could not have known that he had just just been pushed up against a wall by a police officer. As soon as he saw that it was an officer, he didn’t swing again.

Despite the video evidence, the Birmingham police have announced that they support their officer’s version of the story and that the young man will be charged with assault against a police officer.

If sentenced, he will likely spend around 6 months to a year in prison as punching an officer is classified as an aggravated offence.

There was no effort by the officers to arrest the 3 foreign attackers.

I am having a drink this evening with a friend in a Chiswick pub. Two policemen have just come into the pub and asked me to step outside. I have stepped outside and they have threatened me because I tweeted about a councillor banning seating outside pubs in Chiswick. They admit on video (watch it!) that I did not break the law at all. They came to threaten me. To warn me off tweeting about councillors and the council. This is modern Britain. This is the police state. Please, please, please watch this video. It does involve me using very bad language, but this has got to be seen. Police coming out to threaten someone who hasn’t committed a crime. I’m fuming.

Cultures are not interchangeable entities nor are they equal on key foundational features. Some cultural values are universal (e.g., incest taboo) or near-universal (male preference for the hourglass figure) but many cultural values are perfectly incongruent with each other. If a heterosexual man were to court a lesbian, they might share many common values but they clash on one key issue: their respective sexual orientations. This clash makes their union impossible. The same principle applies to immigration policies in the West. Many immigrants possess cultural and religious values that are PERFECTLY antithetical to those of the West. Michael Crichton is such a fascinating figure and it is a goddamn shame he died so young

This guy got into Harvard Medical School and said "actually, I want to write stories" so he wrote one of the most harrowing long short stories, the Andromeda Strain.

This guy was addicted to research. He read scientific journals for fun and researched everything that captured his interest. He was curious and skeptical. He thought hard about the implications of technology all the time.

And, instead of being a dork and writing a blog, he wrote entire novels warning about the dangers of emerging technologies. And they were great!

He wrote a `Prey` about the dangers of combining AI with nanobots 24 years ago. It's tremendous. You could publish it today and it would be relevant.

I miss him. I miss technically competent authors who can spin a good yarn while informing the reader about how technology is changing the world.

Crichton was a generational talent and we are poorer for his absence.

Σήμερα περπάτησα από την Φαβιέρου στην πλατεία Βάθης ως το Μοναστηράκι, περνώντας από την οδό Μενάνδρου. Γενικά περπατώ πολύ στην πόλη, σπάνια χρησιμοποιώ αυτοκίνητο ή κάποιο μέσο. Κινούμαι δε πολλές φορές στις γειτονιές όπου πολλοί δεν θέλουν να λερώσουν το Prada τους, Αχαρνών, Ομόνοια και πέριξ, αλλά έχουν άποψη για την πόλη και εκλέγονται ως πολιτευτές της Αθήνας (λολ).
Όπως έχω ξαναπεί ένα μεγάλο κομμάτι του κέντρου της Αθήνας είναι ΠΑΡΑΔΟΜΕΝΟ, είναι πενταβρώμικο, είναι εξαθλιωμένο, είναι τριτοκοσμικό, είναι γκέτο, είναι κατειλημμένο από κάθε λογής πληθυσμούς που έχουν μεταφέρει την τσαντιρίλα τους στην Αθήνα με τις άδειες των δημάρχων, πρώην και νυν, της κυβέρνησης και όλων των επίορκων υπηρεσιών.
Το αποτέλεσμα είναι να νομίζεις ότι βρίσκεσαι στο Μπαγκλαντές, στο Πακιστάν, στην Ινδία. Πάντως σίγουρα όχι στην Αθήνα. Οι τουρίστες κοιτάζουν απορημένοι την ελεεινή αυτή κατάσταση. Για Αθήνα ξεκίνησαν, στο Μπαγκλαντές βρέθηκαν.
Είναι ντροπή που για χρόνια εγκαταλείφθηκε ένα τόσο μεγάλο κομμάτι του κέντρου και που παραδόθηκε σε αλλοεθνείς πληθυσμούς, για τους οποίους είναι απορίας άξιον που έχουν βρει τα χρήματα να ανοίξουν τόσα μαγαζιά.
Σε μία μικρή έρευνα που κάναμε εντοπίσαμε 2-3 αλλοδαπούς να έχουν ο καθένας 3-4 μαγαζιά και 5 εταιρείες με αντικείμενο από πλυντήρια ρούχων μέχρι καφετέριες, ένδυση, κατασκευές, μεσιτικά και ένα σωρό ΚΑΔ άσχετα μεταξύ τους.
Αυτές οι διασταυρώσεις της ΑΑΔΕ δεν βρήκαν αυτό που είδαμε εμείς με μία μικρή αναζήτηση;
Εντάξει καταλάβαμε.
Θαυμάστε ωραίες γειτονιές. Μέσα στην εγκατάλειψη. Τα συγχαρητήρια μου σε όλους τους δημάρχους και τις κυβερνήσεις που τους νταντεύουν.
