Here's your reminder, Neighbor. Allow yourself to be kind to ALL today - including those with whom you disagree. There are sure to be many more beautiful days in the neighborhood, but not without kindness.
“If you could only sense how important you are to the lives of those you meet; how important you can be to the people you may never even dream of. There is something of yourself that you leave at every meeting with another person.”
Let’s be like Fred, neighbors!
Sadness isn’t forever. I’m not suggesting that we remind ourselves of this to lessen our grief. On the contrary. The knowledge that time brings relief from sadness & there will once more be days when we're happy again may allow us to grieve more fully & deeply when we need to.
I am proud of you for standing up for something you believe in - something that wasn’t particularly popular, but that assured the rights of someone less fortunate than you.
"That deep part of you that allows you to stand for those things without which humankind cannot survive. Love that conquers hate, peace that rises triumphant over war & justice that proves more powerful than greed.”
Let's stand strong together, Neighbors. And let's do it today.
“There is no chance of redemption if the goal is annihilation.”
There's a lot of talk these days about peace, but if our leaders continue to preach destruction of enemies - and we allow those leaders to keep preaching - our hope is gone. Neighbors, kindness can change it all.
“There is no person in this whole world who is a mistake, no matter how different that person may seem.”
Neighbors, CS Lewis once said that we've never encountered a mere mortal in this life. Let's treat ALL with the dignity they deserve - especially those with whom we disagree.
@lecrae There are many of us who appreciate your vulnerability, Neighbor. Please keep speaking up! You make neighborhoods better with each honest word.
“I think children and adults long to be in touch with what’s real. Don’t you?”
Neighbors, in this world where AI blurs & "fake news" becomes our mantra when things make us uncomfortable, it's vital that we embrace all that is genuine. We can start by embracing one another today.
“Hate is such a strong word to use so lightly.”
The way we casually drop that word into conversations is disturbing, Neighbors. When we learn to disagree without hatred, we heal. It never works in reverse. It might take awhile, but this is a habit that needs to be broken. #143
“There are 3 ways to ultimate success: The 1st way is to be kind. The 2nd way is to be kind. The 3rd way is to be kind.”
Kindness is like a cheat code for life, Neighbors.
Tell a friend.
Practice on family.
And let's begin to hold leaders to the simple standard of kindness
“The more I think about it, the more I wonder if God and neighbor are somehow One.
‘Loving God, Loving neighbor’ — the same thing?
For me, coming to recognize that God loves EVERY neighbor is the ultimate appreciation.”
Let's love well today...
“It takes strength to face our sadness - to grieve & to let our grief & anger flow in tears when they need to. It takes strength to talk about our feelings & to reach out for help and comfort when we need it.”
Neighbors, this is a great day to be strong enough to face it all.
“We live in a world in which we need to share responsibility. It’s easy to say ‘It’s not my child, not my community, not my world, not my problem.’ Then there are those who see the need & respond. I consider those people my heroes.”
Let's step up & be heroes today, Neighbors!
“The most important learning is the ability to accept AND expect mistakes - & deal with the disappointments that they bring.”
Today, let's offer grace to those who've made mistakes that have affected us.
And let's start with the person in the mirror.
“People have said, ‘Don’t cry’ to other people for years and years, and all it has ever meant is ’I’m too uncomfortable when you show your feelings: Don’t cry.’ I’d rather have them say, ‘Go ahead and cry. I’m here to be with you.’
It's OK to let the tears out, Neighbors.
