songs & tunes by the wonderful Kate Witney & Liam Robinson followed by baked potatoes & desserts. No bonfire this year but we managed! Many thanks Mike, Chris, Kate & Liam et al!

An excellent talk by Geoff Mullet who has installed & monitored a series of web-cams on the tower of St James's, Louth, to observe and record the nesting, breeding & rearing of peregrine chicks. Geoff has compiled fascinating footage for his lecture which was enjoyed by all.

On Saturday 27th June 2026 we held our annual Patronal Day celebration at St John the Baptist, Sutterby. Father Peter Coates did a grand job leading the celebration & the congregation was in fine voice. Refreshments at Langton Village Hall including birthday cake for Kate Witney

On Friday 19th June 2026 in the Franklin Hall, Spilsby. We welcomed back Dr Kevin Leahy, National Adviser to the Portable Antiquities Scheme, with his extremely interesting talk entitled “Stone Age Finds: new research, new Knowledge.” Thank you Kevin for very enjoyable evening

An excellent Sandwich Filler Talk by our very own Denise on the Royal Arms in Lincolnshire Churches. The talk was well illustrated with examples of Royal Arms throughout the County ending with a computerised reconstruction of that in Sutterby which must have been overpowering!

Our Sandwich Filler on Tuesday April 14th 1pm Franklin Hall Spilsby is a look at the history and heritage of Royal Arms in Lincolnshire parish churches. An illustrated talk by Denise Wheatley. Bring your lunch. Hot drinks available. Donations gratefully received on the door.

Many thanks to Brian Hodgkinson for Saturday's excellent talk on the Louth Church Warden accounts of the Tudor period from before, during and after the Reformation. As usual cake was provided this time by Chris Morgan with Denise executing the decoration!

Our good friend, Ray, gave an excellent talk on John 'Longitude' Harrison who, although Yorkshire born moved to Lincolnshire at an early age. Ray described John's early career in clock making, his search for accuracy culminating in him winning the Longitude Prize. Thank you Ray

Many thanks to Paul Hildreth for last Friday's excellent talk on building stones. Paul qualified with a degree in geology & has worked within this sphere, including 30 years teaching. He illustrated his talk with many examples of buildings in local stone. Come again Paul!
