@svallen@BDavidson89 Whole helmet! Would love to do some impact testing but would need to reproduce two of the shell layers - currently just 3D printed. The base shell is practically a fiberglass blunt impact shell so that one could be tested
Gave an assignment for the students to build something that I know isn’t going to work. After explaining that Failure IS an option & its a process of learning, a student said, “I’ve never been this excited to start a project I already know I’m going to fail!” #fcps1kidsdeserveit
@svallen@BDavidson89 "Digital Engineering" and "3D Data Visualization" are a couple new big and important fields and it would be great to get ambitious students initial hands-on experience to make them more competitive even to colleges showing they're at the cutting edge of tech. & innovation!
@svallen@BDavidson89 I just finished watching it all! I've bee using some game technology for my senior thesis! Does KettleRun still have a gamedev like class still?
Solidworks has become significantly unreliable in performance and in memory. It requires higher computer specs just to open a "blank" part & the software does not accurately remember my steps and inaccurately deletes ENTIRE bodies.
@svallen do you have any suggestions for a good first python projects? I understand methods, conditional statements, setting and passing in variables & some exposure to asynchronous
@BDavidson89 When I'm trying to build 3D surfaces like this, it is amazing how many hours I spent tweaking the curves to optimize the geometry. "Frustrating" is the easy term haha
@svallen I've recently gotten into coding from my internship and at least half the time I'm sitting there with my head in my hands wondering why I chose this path (I do really enjoy it though)
Concept helmet #wip I've gradually become very intrigued by bio-morphic/"alien" #conceptdesign languages. So used to creating highly thought-out and calculated designs. I decided to try a reactionary #designprocess which allowed the forms to take on a pseudo-natural presence
