There is only one kind of praise that doesn’t puff up, that you cannot lose, that heals you instead of rots your soul. That is the praise of God. – @timkellernyc
Sermon, Boasting and Faith
When I was living in Romania and learning the language, one of the first words I encountered was pocăit. Roughly translated, it means “repenter.” It was a derogatory label given to evangelical believers last century. Evangelicals embraced the label, however. >>
Today at church, one family sat in the 2nd row--not their normal row. That pushed the family who normally sits in the 2nd row to the 3rd row--our normal row. So we sat in the 4th row, and the older couple who usually sits behind us was like "what's happening?"
It was chaos.
“A man can no more diminish God’s glory by refusing to worship Him than a lunatic can put out the sun by scribbling the word ‘darkness’ on the walls of his cell.” - C.S. Lewis
"...the coolness of my love, the faintness of my zeal, the vanity of my heart, and my undue attachment to the things of time...disable me in service. Well it is for me that I am not under the law but under grace." - John Newton Me too.

- faithfulness (He fulfills His promises)
- love (Everything filters through His love for me)

We mustn't pit being humble, gentle, and kind to opponents (2 Tim 2:24-26; Matt 12:19-21) against speaking fearlessly (Eph 6:19) and forcefully (Jn 2:13-17). We must always do both--combining truth and love (Eph 4:15) if the gospel is to be compelling and persuasive.
