These provisions, along with facilitation for workforce movement across 6,000+ joint ventures, strengthen cross-border business engagement and deepen India–Oman economic cooperation.

The India–Oman CEPA strengthens this partnership by improving market access and supporting long-term growth in agricultural trade. India is Oman’s second-largest agricultural supplier, with exports spanning rice, fruits, meat, eggs, biscuits and condiments.

The India–Oman CEPA enhances market access for Indian pharmaceutical products by enabling zero-duty treatment, quicker regulatory approvals, and more streamlined procedures.
Measures such as fast-track authorisations, mutual recognition of GMP standards, and simplified compliance norms are expected to strengthen pharmaceutical trade and deepen healthcare cooperation.

With the India–Oman CEPA entering into force today, a stronger framework is now in place to support the next phase of economic engagement between the two countries. Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh and Australian Deputy Prime Minister & Minister for Defence Mr Richard Marles co-chaired the 2nd India–Australia Defence Ministers’ Dialogue at the Manekshaw Centre, New Delhi, today. The leaders reviewed the progress of bilateral defence cooperation and discussed new opportunities to further advance the India–Australia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. Earlier, Mr Marles was accorded a Ceremonial Tri-Service Guard of Honour upon his arrival.
Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening defence collaboration, enhancing strategic trust, and contributing to peace, stability, and security across the Indo-Pacific region.

Maj Gen Rachel Thomas assumed the appointment of Additional Director General, Military Nursing Service on June 01, 2026. An alumna of the Armed Forces Medical College, she was commissioned into the Military Nursing Service on June 01, 1988 and brings nearly four decades of distinguished clinical and administrative experience across the Armed Forces Medical Services.
She succeeds Maj Gen Lissamma PV, who superannuated on May 31, 2026 after four decades of dedicated service to the nation.
