In Alberta, foresters plant more than a 1:1 ratio to ensure a thriving ecosystem. The plant to harvest ratio is 2:1, and sometimes, even more, are planted! 😊 #LoveABForests#TreePlanters
Did you know that your typical wood-framed house actually stores the carbon equivalent of the emissions that would be given off running a car for 5 years? Alberta's forests AND forest products are a natural carbon sync. #buildwithwood#ABForestWeek#LoveABForests#woodisgood

A well-managed forest is #sustainable & safe for the communities it surrounds. Over the course of its life, it will improve water quality, protect species diversity & sequester carbon, and it all starts with a 200-year plan. Check out the video below to learn more. #loveabforests
In a changing climate, this idea of lock down land and all will be perfect is wrong. Trees in the boreal only live 80-100 yrs - then fall to pests, fire, or decay. Not good for forest health, our GHG story, jobs/economy, or community safety. Enough with this polarization. (2/2)
What’s continually overlooked is that it’s not forestry vs conservation. Forestry in 🇨🇦 is about conservation. Across the boreal 40% of our working forest is under conservation measures today - wetlands protection, buffers around ecological areas, wildlife habitat, etc. (1/2)
Healthy forests are a natural carbon sink. Our forest industry works diligently to maintain 🌳🌲 so they continue to sequester carbon & help combat climate change. The pine beetle devastates our forests & is a threat to Canada's #climatechange goals. (1/2) #PartnersAgainstMPB
