This take is mistakenly viewing the situation in Indiana as only being about the Bears. It’s about the Bears, and the overall business climate in Indiana being much better than Illinois.
The Indiana legislature put up all this money to lure the Bears, and also put themselves in a win-win situation. If the Bears move to Indiana, great. If they don’t, they’ve still shown the wider business community that they should consider moving their business from Illinois to Indiana.
Pulling the offer in Hammond would not be a good look for attracting future businesses. This whole debacle is about a lot more than just the Bears for both states.
