The Blue Jays salvage the last game of the road trip with a 7-2 win! Coming home for the first of their two longest homestands of the season. 9-gamer starting tmr to June 14th. A week away and then back for a 10-gamer June 22 - July 1st. Time to get home cooking at SkyDome.
You don’t have to like the process PWHL is going thru. You don’t have to like losing players you love. But DO NOT take your anger out on the players. They’ve battled & earned the right for their choice. This is harder on them more than on us. Also respect who’ve been protected
@ilyasamsHOEnov Anyone blaming the players for all of this needs to settle down. Don’t have to like the process (I don’t), don’t have to like the fact she’s leaving, but she’s earned it. And she’s a friend of mine. Gonna miss the hell out of her but it’s her moment & choice, & I’m proud of her
Best of luck to Daryl wherever she ends up. Sad to see her go but she’s a star and has earned the right/the money she deserves. I’ll be rooting for her regardless of where she plays
this is the main reason i’m upset. i grew up watching these leagues and women’s hockey and when the pwhl came along i’ll admit i was sceptical at first, but i truly did start to believe it was better. now im not so sure…
@BradInvestment It’s disheartening that just as you feel you’ve got something, it’s gonna be changed up so quickly. A lot of deals now look to be 3-year deals. Now the wonder is in 3 years, are we going to go thru this all over again with a major expansion? Maybe a larger player pool then helps
I’ve never seen a group of hockey fans have it worse than women’s hockey fans. CWHL folds, PHF Under-supported/folds while star players play in a traveling all-star game. PWHL: Let’s annually blow up every team. Oh wow found your fav player’s jersey? What’s the point of buying it
@BradInvestment The best case scenario is full barns & every team with a chance to be in the hunt. I hope that’s the case. But the kicker right now is just as fans are coming in & finding fav players, their teams get hit with significant shakeups. Fan growth isn’t my worry. It’s fan retention.
@TheCynick Tons of opportunities, no question about that. It’s good to see the league grow. But the concern I have is too much, too fast. We’ll see how it plays out. But seeing strong Takeover markets snubbed for two un-tested/major roster changes across the board I pray isn’t problematic
@CJexie And no farm system to develop/feed talent into these 12 teams is also problematic. It’s coming. The future of the game is going to be good. But we aren’t there yet. A staggered expansion I feel now would’ve made more sense because this is a huge gamble on the short-term impact
@BradInvestment Same with AHL as I have Marlies seasons too. But those leagues that’s what you expect. PWHL sure feels different. They’re expanding to two unknown markets. 4 new teams is a lot. I’m sure that is the goal but it’s certainly a huge risk with league-wide changes for high-paying fans
@522IntoOvertime@eden_nucks21 Well I also speak as a season ticket holder who is now locked into the renewal with hopes of also upgrading the seats. Not a good feeling waking up this morning and seriously concerned about my decision. This isn’t a honeymoon anymore. I want to win. I want the commitment to win.
@522IntoOvertime@eden_nucks21 The expansion is too recklessly aggressive. If they wanted to pause after this then why not stagger the expansions. The league has proven they’ve got great fan support but now I’m worried about the fan retention when teams are blown up to this magnitude.
While the wait continues… we have three games on tap tonight. Blue Jays in Atlanta, Tempo in New York, and the Marlies looking to take Game 4 at the Coliseum
