SONATA

SONATA (Sports Organist Network And Trade Association) is the society for sports organists & advocacy for tasteful LIVE organ music in sport.

@Jack_Hammer15 @bravesorganist 👋

[Elizabeth Wigham @EWigham]

@SportsOrganists What are your first and favorite go-to songs when playing ballpark organ?

[SONATA @SportsOrganists]

This behavior runs afoul of SONATA’s advocacy for live tasteful music in sports.

Might we suggest the following creative alternatives for a controversial call:

Am I Wrong
An Innocent Man
Blinded by the Light
I Fought the Law
Please Forgive Me
Sorry
Wasn’t Me
What’s Going On

Hitting a sour note🎶 🎼🎼

Did you hear about the discord a @MiLB umpire caused when he didn't like an umpire's call?

On 6/26/85🎹Organist Wilbur Snapp was ejected from a game by umpire Keith O'Connor for playing "Three Blind Mice." 🐁🐁🐁

So, @CanesNHL, are you getting a new organ like you said in January? The odds of winning a cup without a team organist are pretty abysmal. Of teams without a current organist (including all organist appearances in 2018-19), zero have won the Stanley Cup in the 21st century. Zero.

[SONATA @SportsOrganists]

Happy 4th. @GoogleDoodles' #July4 entry "Let's Play Ball!" is a baseball-themed game that prominently features ballpark organ, comprising nearly the entire Google Doodle soundtrack. Support your team's organist & if they don't have one, write to them asking they add an organist!

SONATA congratulates @Dbacks organist Bobby Freeman (Baseball, Phoenix/Arizona) on his induction into the Cactus League Hall of Fame. @bobbyfreeman88

[The Cactus League @cactusleagueaz]

Today at our annual Cactus League kickoff luncheon we had the honor of inducting five new members into our 2019 Hall of Fame. Congratulations to this year’s class; Ken Griffey Jr., Robin Yount, Fergie Jenkins, Roland Hemond and Bobby Freeman!

[SONATA @SportsOrganists]

SONATA wishes Larry Olsen a happy retirement and congratulations on his 18-season career. Instrumental during Carolina's 2006 Stanley Cup run, Larry inspired fans & players with prompts & music. We call on @NHLCanes to seek a talented organist to continue the valued tradition.

[SONATA @SportsOrganists]

See the following image for a statement from SONATA on the state of our profession.

With both @MLB (19/30) & @NHL (28/31 and very possibly 29/31 by October) trending up in hiring more organists, we have certainly reached a point where tradition is simply the right move to make.

[Josh Kantor @jtkantor]

Bob Miller: "I miss the organ music at hockey games. It's synonymous with hockey and I'd like to hear it a little bit more." ❤️
