Eurovision fans divided as BBC cuts ‘tone deaf’ Austrian LGBT skit during live semi-final

During Thursday night’s second semi-final from Vienna, the BBC chose not to air a pre-recorded Austrian sketch featuring host Victoria Swarovski as “Professor Eurovision”.

In the skit a student asks: “Why are there only gays at Eurovision now? Have they taken over?”

Swarovski replies that the festival is mainly attended, worked on and enjoyed by “straight” people, adding the aim is “to replace all the letters in LGBTQIA+ with just one ‘H’ for humanity” before showing a montage of LGBTQIA+ participants.

The BBC instead cut to a package about Britain’s entry Look Mum No Computer.

The full sketch has since gone viral on social media, with many viewers branding it “tone deaf”.

Trans fella India Willoughby accused the BBC of “covering it up” to avoid upsetting Reform voters.

Fans remain split on the decision.
