All Majors held in the US have had intraregional grand finals:
- Raleigh had G2-Empire
- Charlotte had DZ-Astralis
- Atlanta had w7m-LOS
Could Salt Lake City have Shopify Rebellion vs DarkZero?
FaZe could be the first ever team to win a Major without dropping a single map!
Only one other team has ever reached a Major Grand Final without losing a map: G2 in Raleigh in 2019. Though they did end up losing that final match...
THREAD: For the Salt Lake City Major, BLAST will take into account tiebreakers in case of a tied Buchholz, with the scenario below the only one possible tonight. It is important to know this before assuming the seeds are locked in like so (1/4)
@OGVlonaldTrutin Overall I like the simplicity of the way I present it currently. Adding a overall winrate would require even more numbers about how often coaches even call timeouts. Twister for example only called about half as many timeouts as most other coaches. Is that important? You decide
Timeout effectiveness is a stat we never really got to use on broadcast during SI 2026, so I'm posting it here! Half of these coaches will also compete in Salt Lake City, though not all of them are still with the same teams.
@OGVlonaldTrutin Keep in mind that the opposing team also gets a timeout when you call one. This can give them time to rework their strategy to keep you on the back foot. Historically, there have been negative TOEs, so clearly there is some skill in finding the right moment to call a TO.
@Guilherme_gohaN Thank you! And good job to you and your team for turning so many situations around. +56% is the highest TOE I have recorded, though this is only the 3rd tournament I had the data for.
I got my hands on some more timeout data so I'm doing another graphic at Timeout Effectiveness.
@Goddess_R6 was second to last in 2023, but climbed all the way up to first this year!
Data collected by @leodemachado & @Rs_Daemon
I want to thank all the admins for their help in collecting all the data! I hung out with them all after the event in the hotel lobby at 3 am and I had a great time. My favorite part of any event is always meeting the people you've only interacted with online.
@ThatBattery SI is the only tournament that has the rule that the tiebreakers start from the top if the number of tied teams is reduced, which is a holdover from when ESL was involved.
I have figured out a tiebreaker match possibility in the NAL! This is what needs to happen:
100T beat M80 7-3
FF beat 1/30 7-5
SR beat M80 8-6
This would put 1/30, M80 and 100T in a 3-way-tie for 3rd, which 1/30 would win, but the other two would play a tiebreaker match for 4th
This w7m-FURIA team has been together the longest out of 5-man roster in Siege currently, even longer than FaZe (by 1 day), and they're only ~40 days shy of the longest lasting 5-man ever (CAG 2019-2023). In that time they've won 2 Majors, SI and Reload. Truly the end of an era.
