Kicked off the @nhsjc convention tonight with my fellow @OlatheCTE journalism advisers! We are grateful to be here and excited to learn lots to bring back to our programs!
Thanks business partners for an incredible Digital Media, Graphic Design, Web Digital Pathway & @Olathe_eComm Spring Advisory Board meeting! Your insight into tech trends, colleges and portfolios is so valuable to our students. @Olathe21st @OlatheCTE @ChrisZuck @APCogswell
Falcon journalists at the @kspaonline Winter Workshops today! Journalism students took part in day long courses to work on writing, social media, design and photography skills!
First @kspaonline fall conference in at least five years!! Today, 41 student journalists spent the day learning from industry professionals, expert advisers, and KU professors. (And I taught a little too 😉)
Tonight is our football home opener and we have deemed it our “staff game”. The boys asked a teacher that they admire and respect to wear their jersey all day! It was so great seeing all the support and love 💙🏈💛

Never underestimate the power of an administrator who cares about your program. My phojo kids look forward to the parent newsletter every week to see which of their photos make it in - and it makes us feel good to see our work published. Check it out!

🧵After reading 41 pitches from teens for a @nytopinion piece, here's some words of advice for teen journalists:
1) Be more direct. Tell the editor in the first 3 sentences what specifically you want to write abt. Don't waste space summarizing the main points of a general issue.
