@TorontoStar Oh goody because teachers have sooo much extra time in the first week of school to be calling & price matching for supplies they needed a week ago. Ford gov. spends more time and money fixing bad decisions. Do they not have anyone intelligent on staff?
I know that @PaulCalandra says #OntEd teachers shouldn't post our complaints about his Ministry's errors on the internet, but after I posted and was interviewed by the lovely @CBCLorenda, Staples quietly changed the prices on items I highlighted. Here's what they look like today:
NEW: Ontario teachers are finding some classroom supplies cost significantly more on the Ford government’s new Staples portal.
I asked Education Minister Paul Calandra about it: “it's not meant to be perfect from day one, but it will get there.”
Full exchange here:
Premier Ford can't get your kid a bus for the first day of school, but he has plenty of time to grandstand with this kind of low hanging fruit.
Sorry. It's just pathetic.

Then explain this: your government just made American-owned Staples the exclusive vendor for every teacher's $750 classroom supply card, so not one of those dollars can go to a Canadian business. Buy Ontario means cancel the Staples deal. It's common sense.
I understand sick days and doctor's notes for teachers may come up for discussion during negotiations.
This is Jude. He died 10 years ago from a flu outbreak in my daughter's kindergarten class. Please make it as easy as possible for people to stay home sick. #ForJudeForEveryone
Let’s not normalize this creepy behaviour as typical opposition research. It’s unacceptable and invasive. Ford saying it’s “just politics” sets the tone for his party. This gross behaviour starts at the top. #onpoli
It's time to retire the myth that Conservative governments are fiscally responsible. On the eve of three by-elections, Doug Ford wants to project an image of fiscal discipline.
He's not.
After 8 long years, Ontario is approaching half a trillion dollars in debt while taxpayers have paid for luxury hotels, a private jet, and insider-friendly spending.
Ontarians are paying more and getting less. #onpoli
