I keep reading and hearing the word “ Agent “ used way too broadly. Do you know the actual difference?

You have:
· Copilot calling a basic customgpt an “ Agent “
· Chat bots that are called “ Agents “
· A simple to complicated workflow in n8n an “ Agent “
· A custom vibe coded agent an “ Agent “
· A fully autonomous agentic system architecture an “ Agent “

This is exactly like thinking that the word “ Transportation “ means rollers skates and airplanes or if you went to a “ Transportation “ rental company expecting to rent a car and found they only rent skateboards!

So, when an agency, leadership, IT dept, consultant, etc. talks about “AI agents,” look past the label and ask them what exactly this “ agent “ does?

You would be highly surprised at how many people will buy the airplane and only get roller skates.
