This is a first glimpse of the visuals for architect Thomas Randall-Page's rolling bridge.
It will live in Cody Dock in east London - The counterweights & manual operation of its Victorian Engineering make it a playful solution for people wishing to cross and travel the River Lea
Could your brain be trained to sculpt this?
In the near future consumers could create the objects they live with.
Will architects still be designing the homes they put their creations in?
We think this technology could make home designing a more unique and collaborative process
Edison had many light bulb moments but his single mold concrete house; inc roofs, partitions, bath tubs, and floors was not one of them.
Ahead of his time? Some of his houses still stand today and he was right about one thing, concrete had a solid future.
Building a house can become a bit surreal...
The endless lists of possibilities & layers of considerations... Putting big ideas to paper, & making houses out of that paper is what we architects do. Watch the trailer of this upcoming architecture animation https://t.co/brTKCA82vd
Tulou houses-When architecture isn't used to demonstrate social hierarchy. Made from stone, bamboo, wood, & even sticky rice, they shape a “closed outside, open inside" environment. Designed as vertical strips, families owned a strip, large families= more strips. #HousesOfEquals
Cat flaps can now detect if your pet is carrying prey and block them!
Could homes one day do the same for kids who break curfew (so they can't sneak in or out), people with colds or criminal records?
What would we be ok with blocking?
Paws for thought...

I think that by now everyone knows how useful pallets can be, they can be reused and recycled in so many ways.
This has got to be up there as one of our favourites. What could be better after a long day?

A recently completed project in Pevensey.
A lovely small single storey rear extension to replace a conservatory to create a larger kitchen/dining area. Incorporating large bifolding doors and a roof light. Complemented perfectly by the clients choice of kitchen and finishes.
We love the contrast between the materials here. The black cladding and the light brickwork almost create the illusion of a smaller or two separate buildings.

A lamp made using micro algae, that needs no electricity and still produces light.
Best of all, each lamp absorbs as much co2 in a single year as 150 trees...

A recently completed timber frame garage for one of our lovely clients. Our client had struggled previously to gain planning permission, but Spruce swooped in to save the day once again.
Recycle, create, amaze. Such a simple and clever idea.

As controversy surrounding available space on land for new housing estates increases, could looking towards the sea be the answer?
I’m sure there would still be a lot of environmental issues, but it’s certainly an interesting idea.
