It's official - our final Little Tern chick of 2024 fledged yesterday! 🥳
Immense gratitude to our incredible team of wardens and volunteers for all their hard work, and to all who have supported us this season.

We'll update with final stats once the data has been collated.

It looks like we have just one youngster still to fledge. The parents are bringing in good numbers of fish, and the chick can often be seen flapping - building up those vital wing muscles for the long journey ahead. 💪

Come on, little one - you've got this!!

Our team carried out the second timed colony walk through of the season today with great success.
43 Little Tern chicks were counted from Long Bank on Friday, and 35 of them were caught and ringed today when recording nests. Excitingly, many more chicks are yet to hatch!!

A prime example of why dogs need to be kept on leads and under control around beach-nesting birds. You may think the beach is empty, but there are tiny lives at stake if you allow your pooch to run wild!
