🚨 Tottenham Hotspur submit bid to sign Jan Paul van Hecke from Brighton & Hove Albion. #THFC offer for 25yo centre-back below #BHAFC valuation so rejected, but talks continue in bid to strike agreement. Dutch int’l close to Roberto De Zerbi @TheAthleticFC https://t.co/kiZ9NDIURF
Somehow ended the season as our 2nd top scorer and played a huge part in us staying up with 2 winning goals in our last 5 games.
But ultimately seems like the right decision, technically limited, and a huge upgrade is needed.
🚨| #Tottenham have pulled out of the race to sign Joao Palhinha.
#Spurs’ buy option expires tomorrow, and Sporting CP are moving ahead with the deal.

🚨💥 Marcos Senesi to Tottenham - DONE DEAL ✔️
Following the agreement that he would join on a free transfer if Tottenham stayed in the Premier League, as excl. revealed in April.
Contract planned until 2030 for the 29 y/o centre-back, who had many enquiries. @SkySportDE 🇦🇷
Since Roberto De Zerbi’s appointment, Spurs are among the best sides in the league in high-press efficiency and the best in terms of open-play xG conceded. De Zerbi has shown flexibility and focused on what is fixable in the short term
How Tottenham's Passing and Pass Accuracy % has changed under De Zerbi:
De Zerbi: 361 Passes per Game, 84%
Tudor: 305 Passes per Game, 76%
Frank: 344 Passes per Game, 82%
No Premier League club has suffered more from injuries than Tottenham Hotspur this season🤕
Spurs players have missed a combined 363 games in total across all competitions!

It's not the main reason Spurs are (likely) going down but look at the amount of unavailable players we've had per matchday this season. Incredible run of injuries (and suspensions).
248 absences so far in 34 Gameweeks. Averaging out at 30% of the senior playing squad per week.
🚨🆕 Tottenham are happy with Joao #Palhinha. Spurs can imagine triggering the option to buy, but want to renegotiate with FC Bayern.
What was agreed at the time: option to buy set at €25m guaranteed, with potential add-ons that could raise the fee to up to €30m. If Bayern do not lower the price, a purchase is unlikely.
Final decision after the end of the season. Bayern are open to a sale. Contract valid until 2028. @SkySportDE 🇵🇹
@GeorgeSessions correctly pointed this out. But Sarr was actually unavailable for Burnley (A) due to illness. Data came from Transfermarkt which didn't capture that.

Tottenham's 2025-26 squad unavailability due to injury & suspension:
Antonín Kinský, Mathys Tel and Pape Matar Sarr are the only first team players not to be unavailable due to injury this season
Despite the hope for an instant manager bounce, the sad truth is that the level of technical ability available is worryingly low and has been on the decline for too long.
Average Passes per Sequence:
2023/2024: 4.49
2024/2025: 3.94
2025/2026: 3.33
Sunderland: 3.53

A previous post I did was about how we conceded to Sunderland in the reverse fixture due to hoofing it from goal kicks
When you avoid control, go long from goal kicks, and don't win the 1st dual you open yourself to inviting pressure. That’s exactly why we conceded in the 2nd half yesterday (Thread).
This season 43% of Vicario's passes per game have gone long, a huge increase to what we saw under Ange (19%).
However, De Zerbi is not afraid to mix it up; Gerónimo Rulli was averaging 31% long, I'm hoping that this balance will suit both Vic & Kinsky.
