@AmericaReal3 Itโs really hard not to think that this is not a coordinated effort to keep the economy from recovering and lobby for the money that was cut from the budget!
Only in America does someone step out in a $150 sneaker, sip $8 coffee, post from a $1,000 phone, and claim they are oppressed and capitalism is broken!
Good. We have a separation of church and state. If weโre gonna break this separation, then it needs to be broken equally so the Bible is as welcome as the Quran. At least be fair when youโre breaking the rules.
Today is the 18th anniversary of when I walked away from a life of crime. From the time I was a kid in the foster system until 18 years ago, on July 25, 2008, I was a monster. I spent years in and out of jails and institutions, including wards for the criminally insane. I was dangerous. My mind was cold, and I had no feelings about life or death. The world had ripped out my soul.
I tried many times over the years to do the right thing and step up, but I was always dragged back into survival mode because I never had faith that I could overcome my many challenges.
I gave up drugs 20 years ago, but it took another two years before I finally decided that living the life I had been living since I was a kid in the boys' home had taken its physical toll. I was tired, beaten down, and broken, and that day was going to be my end.
I was in a hotel room, ready to end it all, when I started to have a fight with God. I asked Him, "Where were You all those years when I was trying to survive as a kid? Where were You during the rape and torture by adult offenders when I was a child? Where were You when I lived on the streets? Where were You every time life went sideways? And where are You now?"
Like many others over the years, I had made deals with God. "Get me out on bail and I'll never drink again. Get me out and I'll never do drugs again. I promise I'll never fight or hurt anybody again." But every time I got out, I went right back to doing what I felt I had to do.
I tried so many jobs and careers over the years to prove I could change, but in the background I was still doing shady things. I had to come to a new level of honesty with myself.
It was that day, in that hotel room, that I finally did.
I said to God, "Today I am going to die. But before I do, I have never known love. I have never truly felt it my entire life. So God, if You're real, before I die tonight, show me love just once. Just an inch. give me a dang inch."
It was then that my head fell in shame that I had ever doubted Him, as my heart filled with love. That love is still there, 18 years later.
There are days when I want to do what I used to do just to stop the pain, and sometimes even the hunger. But because of what happened in that hotel room 18 years ago, I could never go back to who I used to be. That monster. that beast. is dead. Long, long dead.
The road has been far from perfect, and I have screwed up badly at times. But I have also had some pretty big victories.
In my personal life right now, things might be going to shit, but that does not change the fact that I have faith because I know what happened in that hotel room 18 years ago.
So the same God who rescued me 18 years ago is the same God I am praying will rescue me again in my time of need.
They've checked all the Flock cameras in Kentucky and they still can't locate Mitch McConnell!
I feel like Mitch is chilling in a walk-in freezer somewhere till August 4th!
