🚨 Destiny (@TheOmniLiberal) Challenges Mehdi Hasan Over His Defense of Platforming Controversial Figures 🚨
“There is no confusion in my audience about where I stand on any of those issues.”
“That’s the difference.”
“If someone comes on your show and says something abhorrent, you don’t get to handwave everything away as ‘out of context’ or ‘a joke’ and then act like there’s no reason to question what they believe.”
— Destiny
More dodging. Stop responding to me, these deflections are as predictable as they are pathetic. You cannot engage at this level because you have reduced yourself to a simpleminded activist without the capacity for critical thought, accept it and just move on.
And stop pretending that this was your excuse to cower from a challenging conversation, you've been dodging me from far before I've raised these specific criticisms towards you (attached video 1).
1. It beggars belief that you think it unfair for me to accuse you of being a "mask-on radical Islamist" when you are giving a free pass to a man who mask-off defends radical Islamists.
You have accused people of Islamophobia for far, far less than what people have accused Hasan of anti-Semitism.
Not every accusation of you supporting terrorism has to come from a place of bigotry, especially when you refuse to call out people who you are promoting on your own programs who openly support terrorist attacks against the West. You have remained silent on this claim, you refuse to engage with it. People see that, and it's fair for them to draw assumptions about you when you allow these types of narratives to pass by you without criticism or mention.
2. It's funny that you claim I had my ass "handed to me" by Norman Finkelstein, then back that up by linking to a video of him...calling me silly names. You realize he later admitted to Briahna Joy Gray (attached video 2) and Marc Lamont Hill (attached video 3) that he had no intention of ever approaching that debate in good faith, yes? His whole idea was to just go in and act like a baffoon the entire time because he thought it would be funny.
It speaks highly to your intellectual honesty that you consider it to be an impressive performance when he himself admits to acting like a clown; I suppose it's emblematic of how much of a joke you are when it comes to taking the Israel/Palestine conflict seriously, though.
Funnily enough, there's actually only a few major factual disagreements we had, since Finkelstein spent the majority of the time screaming at me and calling me names. One of them had to do with the "plausibility standard" that the ICJ uses to initially hear a case brought before the court. (attached video 4)
China has fried the online lefts brain.
You'll have leftists on here explaining why a country with sweatshops, billionaires, religious minorities in concentration camps, that collaborates with Israel, and is doing Neocolonialism in Africa is based actually
Medhi didn't even watch the Norm Finklestein debate...
Why would you so confidently assert something about a conversation you never watched? I thought you were supposed to be a journalist.
Mehdi Hasan is truly amazing here.
He suggests that @shannonrwatts is Islamophobic because she asked him to respond to @TheOmniLiberal, a person who has called Mehdi a "mask-on radical Islamist". How ever could Shannon Watts plausibly ask Mehdi to reply to Destiny without Shannon being Islamophobic herself?
Mehdi having a threshold that cartoonishly low for calling someone Islamophobic is one thing, but what is absolutely wild is how Mehdi is simultaneously defending Hasan Piker as not antisemitic. How the hell is Hasan Piker not antisemitic on such a threshold that low?
Unless of course, Mehdi has different standards for islamophobia and antisemitism...which by the way...might just be a bit antisemitic itself on such a threshold!
Ossoff gained praise on the left for voting against arms sales to Israel, but he criticized Piker so the honeymoon is over.
Ten days ago @brianbeutler and I were speculating on how long it could last.

Hasan has become a cancer inside the party and we will now have to spend time and effort getting him out—time that could be spent on trump and republicans ahead of the midterms
@mehdirhasan@shannonrwatts okay thanks for clarifying. Hasan does support it, as we see from this clip. do you condemn that? what do you think it suggests about his ideology? that he's pro-terrorism, right?
@mehdirhasan@shannonrwatts let's talk about moral consistency. you tried to call out Destiny for IDF soldiers wearing civilian clothes without permission, but you support Houthis kidnapping random civilians for months!!
Weird. I don’t remember you criticizing any male podcasters who’ve had him on as a guest… Tim Miller, Piers Morgan, Sam Harris, David Pakman, Chris Kavanaugh, & Matthew Browne.
And I’ve been clear, I don’t care if people do interviews with Hasan Piker. I care if they campaign with him.
Here comes the totally predictable personal attacks, because @mehdirhasan has been exposed as spineless and incapable of dealing with pushback against his palling around with those who openly support terrorist attacks against anyone in the West.
