I am using Twitter for mostly professional related posts. my thoughts or findings on software development, design, internet marketing, technology, etc...
@jeanlucp@NZEire@tjestus @vinay279 @dhblackburn@grayhaze@Matthew_Newby @Newtek_Tech @NewtekWeb i don't understand either. it doesn't look like anything has changed at all in the last 5 hours. i have not been able to get through to support.
anyone have any updates from the past few hours?
did they all go home for the weekend and will try again tomorrow?
@dhblackburn@grayhaze@NZEire@Matthew_Newby @Newtek_Tech @NewtekWeb pro tip - if you move mail you always access old via the mail##.newtekwebhosting.com mail server url. So you can go back and transfer mail into your new host from the old at any time before you cancel.
I use https://t.co/2kabkS02kJ to make it easier.
@MochaPalms@andrewbsherman@Matthew_Newby @Newtek_Tech I never understood this. How does a domain get hijacked? Did the domain get transferred to another account and they were not monitoring the notices? I see https://t.co/adEE4gDYDZ is owned by newtek. I just don't understand the technical part of what was done.
@vinay279 @tjestus@dhblackburn@grayhaze@NZEire@Matthew_Newby @Newtek_Tech @NewtekWeb OK, i just got through to @NewtekWeb. They have servers transitioned and setup. They believe everything should be online except for a routing issue getting traffic through the network to the db servers.
They have a network engineer working on that now.
@vinay279 @tjestus@dhblackburn@grayhaze@NZEire@Matthew_Newby @Newtek_Tech @NewtekWeb it appears DNS, mail, and FTP are working from what I can tell.
Websites appear to be online too (thus FTP is working), but DB is not responding yet so those sites using databases are giving errors.
@KenNewman @Newtek_Tech Just email? They moved datacenter location yesterday and it took down DNS, websites, database services, email - pretty much everything.
I have been watching and most things are back except databases. I would guess your mail is close to being back hopefully.
@grayhaze@dhblackburn@NZEire@Matthew_Newby @Newtek_Tech @NewtekWeb@MXroute thinking the same thing now. having mail included in a site outage is devastating
I have long pushed clients to utilize O365 or GSuite if they can afford and take advantage of the included cloud services. Need good option for cheap mail separate from web too.
@tjestus@dhblackburn@grayhaze@NZEire@Matthew_Newby @Newtek_Tech @NewtekWeb I found one of my clients email is working now. Websites are up but SQL Databases are not yet. (so sites are throwing errors)
https://t.co/tKb6H1QLwM is offline still (for those of you that use it)
@tjestus@MochaPalms @nisahnet @Newtek_Tech @Newtek_One mail should retry for every 5 minutes, 4 times by default (I think) so any mail that you were sent by now should have bounced back to the sender with an error unless newtek setup a mail capture service. I think that is unlikely so your mail is dust. Sorry.
@MochaPalms @nisahnet @tjestus @Newtek_Tech @Newtek_One nope. no luck at all. All sites and mail still down for me. One glimmer of hope in having 1 site at least respond with an error.
It's 1:15am now. I am going to bed and will check it out again when I wake. Site downtime has been 15 hours and counting...
