@FM_NoAlgos I agree congress is bought for now, but news like "90% of post Covid jobs went to foreigners" - is making it impossible to vote on the side of tech and corp lobbyists.
@constans Title should be "Net support for Tech Bros" which is what this data center debate is really about. Tech Bros pulled one too many scam on the public.
@villi There is plenty of room for this AI boom in the peninsula and South Bay where all big companies tend to go. Very difficult to be a huge company in SF, not just housing but taxation and other reasons too.
@Lady_Astor AI might be the best thing that ever happened to American business. No need for offshoring with AI and the bonus is, these AI vendors are also American companies. Go AI
@garlandofcloud Creating jobs for who? Obviously jobs are being created, the Bay Area is one giant Indian diaspora that stinks. Seems like you can create something like that where it belongs - IN INDIA
@sciohn_fhanne Americans are dying to get rid of these foreign scammers, the only ones singing their praises are either other Indians or corrupt themselves. This group of immigrants is toxic, Canada is more right than US on this
@aaron_renn This government is actually doing a good job trying to get rid of "skilled work visas" which are a scam. But they can't get it through congress where it is lobbied up. They are blocking Indians from returning when they leave to India - whether they have an H1B or not.
@R89Capital Not a dilemma, AI wins it. Same exact thing as when Indians first showed up in US. They were not cheap but long term the cheapest option. Same with AI - expensive now but costs will likely collapse in the next few years, this is a bubble
@walterkirn You realize that the USA would be completely broke due to the baby boom retirement if it weren't for California? Most of this states problems - not all - are related to the bifurcation of wealth that great wealth creates. Alabama does not have this problem.
@Rbaker923456@aaron_renn The initial group of Indians we had circa 2001 were good. These days, tribalism is what keeps most Indians employed in tech. They are not better than... anybody.
@aaron_renn Awesome news. And while painful in the near term - it is possible that AI may actually CREATE jobs in the US as some roles are insourced back from Philippines and India.
@RonaldBull405@andyfang The entire value proposition of DoorDash and Uber - extract wealth from an existing business space by lowering the pay grade to below minimum wage (oh, I mean Gig work) while overcompensating a few tech bros at the top. Now restaurants are broke and taxi drivers are unemployed
@andyfang Maybe because DoorDash is a typical "unicorn" scam that mostly extracts wealth from an existing business space (restaurants) and distributes it to a few entitled tech bros while damaging the restaurant culture, businesses and its employees. We don't need more Doordashs or Ubers.
