Very excited to share the my partial student loan forgiveness was APPROVED by the federal government! 😭
33% of my remaining loans were forgiven, thanks to the William D. Ford Teacher Loan Forgiveness Program!
Hi, @Lowes! I happened to notice that you have a cardboard cutout of @TeamMessi in your New Hartford NY location. If and when they plan on taking him out of the store, could this Spanish teacher take it off your hands for free? It would be a great fit in my classroom! ⚽️
2.5 Why is this a half change?
The goal for WL teachers is to speak 90% in the target language during class time. For me, that would be 36/40 mins in a period 🤯
Using interactive notebooks allows me to use more of the TL while students are cutting, gluing, and folding notes
Two and a half changes I’m looking to implement for this upcoming school year:
1. Weighing participation at 0%
2. Using interactive notebooks for note taking
2.5 Increasing time spoken by me in Spanish during class
Explanation 🧵 below:
2. Why interactive notebooks?
Studies show that students retain more info when movement is involved. Cutting and gluing is fine motor movement BUT it does also set up effective materials for studying vocabulary.
Biggest perk? Students have less papers that get lost in binders!
Attention NYS teachers: please voice your opinions about the Blue Ribbon Commission by using this link for the ThoughtExchange! World language deserves a seat at the table when it comes to the Portrait of a NY Graduate in the 21st century! @NYSAFLT

It’s very cool to sit in on a co-Leader of Tomorrow cohort’s presentation. Super excited to learn more about story asking with @MsADomingo! 🥳 #NYSAFLTSI24@NYSAFLT
I’m so glad that @WLClassroom is talking about presentational speaking strategies and activities in class, and I love that I’m getting ideas for more student practice in class! #NYSAFLTSI24@NYSAFLT
Made a spur of the moment decision & got tickets FOUR ROWS behind the goal for the Panama-Bolivia game in the final day of the Group phase for Copa América. With Panama’s 3-1 win, USA was eliminated from Group C. Very cool to watch (& amazing professional development for sure)!
Today my first seventh grade class celebrated their high school graduation. I wasn’t able to attend in person but I am bawling my eyes out watching the livestream.
I am so very proud of these students. You truly never forget your first year of teaching. Cheers to Wboro ‘24 💙🤍
This manifests itself in student behaviors at school too. Teachers can’t hold students accountable because A) they don’t care, and B) nothing is going to be done if phone calls or emails go home.
I had twelve 7th graders fail their Spanish final, most of whom don’t do work 🤦🏻♀️
i wish there was another phrase for gentle parenting bc for some reason that translates to pushover for some people, but literally the other phrase would be properly parenting or non-abusive parenting. gentle parenting doesn’t mean let your kid do whatever idiots.
The first day of final exams in my building is a week away. Classrooms like mine on the second floor are starting the school day at 84° at 8 AM.
If any other occupation had to report to work in an office space with no AC, it’d be all over the news.

I want to give a shoutout to the guy who parodied Hotline Bling for Spanish verbs (iykyk) & hope he’s doing well. Not only is it great watching my students watch the video, but I was able to talk about how Drake has catchy songs & still lost to Kendrick 🤭 https://t.co/GPane8GA3D
I’m extremely jealous of my mother in law and her mom (my grandma in law) as they arrived in Madrid to begin a guided tour on the Camino de Santiago 😭
I’m hoping to share some of their pictures during the week… here’s one of the Spanish reference pages I made for them!
It’s never too late to learn about another pre-snow day ritual.
You have your classics: wear pjs inside out, spoon under the pillow
Unconventional: dance counterclockwise in front of fridge
New to me: ice cubes in the toilet (?) 😂
