I was deeply touched by the warm welcome I received in Milișăuți, Romania.

Despite the rain, so many little children waited to welcome the Honourable Ambassador of India to Romania and me. More than seven groups of little children presented beautiful dances, songs and music. Their performances touched my heart.

I feel deeply honoured to have received the Honorary Citizenship of Milișăuți and the “Key to the City of Bârlad”. The love and warmth I received in both cities will always remain close to my heart.

I am very happy and deeply honoured to receive two special honours from two beautiful cities of Romania—Milișăuți and Bârlad.

I was conferred the Honorary Citizenship of Milișăuți. I was also honoured by the Municipality of Bârlad with the prestigious title, “Key to the City of Bârlad”, a very special honour, symbolising that the doors of Bârlad will always remain open to me.

It was a very special moment for me to receive these honours from the respected Mayors in the presence of the council members and many eminent people. I accept them with all humility as recognition of my lifelong service to education, humanity and society.

I am grateful to the Honourable Ambassador of India to Romania for being present on both occasions. My heartfelt thanks to the Mayors and all the council members of the municipalities of Milișăuți and Bârlad for their warmth, affection and respect.

I will always cherish the love and honour given to me by the people of Romania.

A very proud moment for our KIIT & KISS family as 54 of our student-athletes will represent India at the 20th Asian Games, Aichi-Nagoya 2026 in Japan.

From 14 athletes at the last Asian Games in Hangzhou to 54 this time, this journey makes me very happy. Our KIITians and KISSians will represent the country across seven sports, with 45 athletes in Athletics alone.

I am especially happy that Tajinderpal Singh Toor, who won Gold for India at the previous Asian Games, has been chosen as one of India’s flagbearers for the Opening Ceremony. Along with him, many of our experienced and young athletes will once again carry the hopes of the nation.

It also gives me great joy to see nine athletes from Odisha, including young talents from our tribal communities, being part of the Indian contingent.

For many years, we have tried our best at KIIT & KISS to give our sportspersons the facilities, coaching and support they need to fulfil their dreams. Seeing 54 of them wearing the India jersey at one Asian Games is very special for me.

My best wishes to all our athletes. Give your best for India and make the country proud.

At KISS, the spirit of giving came alive as our students came forward to donate blood on the occasion of the 76th birth anniversary of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji.

Around 3,000 students participated in the blood donation camp organised by the Government of Odisha, turning the occasion into a meaningful act of service and solidarity.

Hon’ble Chief Minister of Odisha, Shri Mohan Charan Majhi, joined the programme and interacted with the students, appreciating their participation and wishing them success in their academic pursuits and future endeavours.

For us at KISS, every act of giving is an opportunity to serve, and our students marked the occasion by giving something that can make a life-saving difference.

On World Ozone Day 2026, KISS-DU convened a programme with a primary objective of raising awareness about the paramount significance of the ozone layer and our collective responsibility towards environmental protection.

The programme, orchestrated by the Department of Geography, School of Tribal Resource Management (STRM), in collaboration with the Department of Renewable Energy, and supported by CSIPG, IQAC, and IIC, brought students together to delve into the profound implications of the ozone layer, environmental conservation, and sustainable practices.

Dr Arpana Premi Lina Oraon, Dean of STRM, KISS-DU, served as the esteemed Chief Guest, gracing the occasion with a captivating speech. Through engaging competitions and activities, students showcased their creativity and profound comprehension of ozone protection and environmental sustainability. The recipients of the awards were subsequently recognised for their enthusiastic participation and unwavering efforts.

As we commemorate World Ozone Day, KISS-DU reaffirms its unwavering commitment to constructing a healthier, safer, and more sustainable future, in alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 13 – Climate Action, SDG 12 – Responsible Consumption and Production, and SDG 3 – Good Health and Well-Being.

Congratulations to our KIIT & KISS cyclists on their outstanding performance at the 2nd State MTB Cycling Championship 2026 and Asmita Khelo India at Mahendragiri.

The cyclists won a total of 30 medals — 12 Gold, 10 Silver and 8 Bronze — and emerged as Overall Champions. They also secured the Youth, Sub-Junior and Junior team titles, while finishing runners-up in the Senior category.

The achievement reflects the strong sporting ecosystem at KIIT, supported by facilities such as our international-standard velodrome, where athletes train regularly and prepare for higher-level competitions.

Congratulations to all the cyclists, coaches and members of the sports team on this excellent achievement.

Nearly 8,000 newly admitted girl students of KISS came together for a special interaction with Dr. Achyuta Samanta, who personally guided them as they begin a new chapter of their journey at KISS.

During the interaction, he spoke about the facilities, academic opportunities, higher education, sports, skill development and career pathways available to them. He also assured the students that KISS will continue to support and handhold them at every stage so that they can grow into educated, confident and independent young women.

At KIIT Law School, we held a Panel Discussion on “Humane and Time-Bound Mechanism for Early Release of Prisoners in the State of Odisha.”

The inaugural session featured the Hon’ble Shri Justice Biswanath Rath, former High Court Judge and Chairperson of the Odisha State Law Commission. Prof. Raju K. D., Pro Vice-Chancellor of KIIT-DU, Prof. N. L. Mitra, Professor Emeritus of KIIT-DU, and Mr Lokanath Mohapatra, Director of Legal Services, also attended.

Distinguished experts from academia, advocacy, and policing presented captivating technical sessions, exploring pathways to a humane, transparent, objective, and time-bound early release mechanism. This approach aimed to balance public safety with the dignity, reform, and rehabilitation of incarcerated individuals.

A story of resilience, ability and opportunity takes centre stage as Resurrection, a short film created at KIIT School of Rural Management, is selected as a finalist at the National Level Short Film Festival for Specially Abled People, organised by the Social Security & Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (SSEPD) Department, Government of Odisha.

At the heart of the film is Mr Trinath Bhoi, a lift operator at our Architecture Building, whose optimism and determination inspired the story. Living with an 80% locomotor disability, Trinath not only inspired Resurrection but also received the National Level Best Actor Award, sharing the honour with KSRM student Saikat Paul, along with a cash prize of ₹20,000.

Adding another meaningful dimension to the film, Ms Shiwani from the Film and Media School, who is hearing- and speech-impaired, contributed the Indian Sign Language subtitles, making the narrative more accessible.

Conceived and directed by Prof. Somnath Dutta, with KSRM students Saikat Paul and Subhradip Mandal contributing to acting and cinematography, the film was created using a mobile phone and available campus resources, without formal filmmaking training.

At KIIT, we believe that talent can emerge from every space and every individual. Resurrection is one such story of people, opportunity and an environment where abilities can find their voice, take shape and be recognised.
