It doesn't mean this is an excuse for you to give up meditation, you must persist in meditation until you come to a stage when you feel there is no meditation. When the purpose of meditation is gained it will drop off naturally.

@Maximilli_1 Dispassion is indeed passions polar opposite. It is also a tool used by many spiritual seekers to untie the bonds of their worldly attachments. Right and wrong are always and only relative to ones aim.
@Filoblack The menaing of that quote is to kill the part of you that is susceptible to death (the ego) while your body is still alive. Once you realize this your identity will be re-established in your Eternal and deathless Self. Then there will be nothing left to fear.
@mindspaceuk While a statement like this is hopefully intended to discourage those things. It also has the inverse effect of implicitly disempowering the victims of the offenses by presupposing the outcome of their experiences.
