Either you bet on the projects where the price has not fully realized the adoption from the past, or you bet on the projects where the price has already realized the adoption from the future.
When you speculate on the adoption from the past, you bet on facts. On things that have already happened. On real traction, product market fit, actual users, real revenue, and real value captured.
You are betting on underpriced certainty, something the market has not fully appreciated yet. These bets often look dull on the surface because they do not come with noise. But they carry weight. Real fundamentals that eventually get priced in.
When you speculate on the adoption from the future, you bet on promises. You bet on what could be. On dreams, roadmaps, ideas that are still in early stages. These promises are seductive.
They carry narratives that spark imagination. They give you a reason to believe early, and if the timing aligns, they reward you more than anything else.
But they are also full of risk, because most promises break, most dreams fade, and most narratives collapse before reality ever shows up.
Facts sound boring and safe. They do not move hearts. They do not trend. And they demand patience. They require you to delay gratification while you wait for the price to catch up with the value that already exists. Most people cannot do that. Most people want dopamine now, not six months later.
Promises sound like a dream. Bold, thrilling, intoxicating. They give you an excuse to chase instant gratification. You ape, not because the fundamentals justify it, but because everyone around you believes it will go up. In this story, price leads adoption, until adoption finally arrives, if it ever does.
As an investor, you need more exposure to facts than promises. Because over the long term, facts compound. Promises do not. Facts keep your investments grounded in reality. Promises only float them in stories. And while stories can pump fast, they also crash hard.
To bet on facts, you must be comfortable with boredom, with being early, with being ignored. That requires emotional maturity, delayed gratification, and conviction. These are rare traits in a generation trained for speed, reaction, and novelty.
And extractors know this very well. They do not sell you the truth. They sell you the dream. They feed your hope. They inflate the collective story until it feels like truth. And you, excited and aligned with your tribe, start believing it is real before it is.
You invest not just your capital but your identity. You become part of the movement. And in doing so, you forget the exit.
You were supposed to exit when reflexivity peaked. When price began outpacing reality. But now you cannot. Because now you are emotionally tied to it. You want to be there when the dream becomes real.
You want to be celebrated for your belief. But the irony is, the exit was the reward for the belief. Now you are just another dreamer waiting for another narrative run.
Awareness is your edge.
Even if you chase promises.
Even if you act on instant gratification. Awareness of project health, roadmap progress, evolving market dynamics, community sentiment, token design, investor behavior, and the broader macro environment keeps you grounded. It gives you the ability to detach.
To zoom out. To make the hard decisions when hype blinds judgment.
Because in the end, it is not just about betting on the right project.
It is about knowing when to exit the belief you once sold to yourself.

The Diamond Proxy Pattern Explained (ERC 2535).
This large (7k+ words) article has been over a year in the making with several do-overs to simplify it as much as possible.
We made it very comprehensive without being overwhelming.
The article explains the specification in an incremental fashion so you only have to learn one new fact at a time, then get an immediate follow up with real but minimal examples to enforce the learning.
Additionally, we go over features and gotchas which aren't covered by other tutorials.
If you've been intimidated by the diamond pattern before, give this article a read. You'll be surprised!
This article is a masterpiece -- even by our standards -- and is destined to become a classic in web3. Thanks to @mudgen (the original EIP author) for proofreading it.

As long as your profits are unrealized, you've made nothing.Even when you cash in, if the money doesn't change your real-life fulfillment, you're just chasing dopamine hits. Sacrificing your sanity for quick money only makes sense if it actually moves the needle on what matters.
We built @FilamentFinance in public - not recommended if you can’t take the beating constantly from users, partners and potential investors.
But finally everything is compounding - community, product vision and traction.
