This predictable pattern would be laughable if it wasn’t so serious. The promoter of an infrastructure project lands in financial difficulties and faces investigation by Modani’s investigative agencies — not one, but three: DRI, CBI and ED. Accusations of coal over-invoicing and money-laundering follow. The promoter is arrested in 2022.

Fast forward two-and-a-half years: an Adani-led consortium takes control of the project. Shortly thereafter, the case collapses and the promoter is exonerated by the Delhi High Court. But the project is now in Adani’s hands — the same person who is miraculously immune from similar charges.

UP is in dire straits.

The State gets to eat 2 meals a day, thanks to the benevolence of the economically ahead States like Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Maharashtra, Karnataka and Gujarat.

The Central Government pours massive financial support to UP, in the process denying that assistance to other needy States.

The central government has committed to spending around ₹11.8 Lakh Crore over the next five years on food subsidies for free food grains to beneficiaries under the National Food Security Act. 

As of October 2024, UP received the largest share of advance tax devolution at Rs 31,962 crore, which was more than the total received by all South Indian states combined. In another period, UP received Rs 1,83,237.59 crore, accounting for 18% of the total Union Taxes and duties, the highest among all states.

In a specific capital investment loan scheme, UP was the highest beneficiary, having received over Rs 8,400 crore by late October 2025. Other states like Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, and Maharashtra received significantly lower amounts under the same scheme.  

The Uttar Pradesh state government's total outstanding liabilities are projected to reach ₹9.03 lakh crore by 2025-26.

Uttar Pradesh's estimated spending on salaries is projected to be 27% of its total revenue receipts.
Pensions consume an additional 14%
Interest payments are at a whopping 10%

Additionally, MSME loans alone reached ₹2.48 trillion in fiscal year 2025, showing a significant increase from the previous year.

None of which they can repay without drawing more from progressive Southern states and Maharashtra. And of course from the Central pool.

No Idea about why Yogi Adityanath spends crores of Rupees in advertising - and claiming economic progress (?).... Seriously?

My guess is, the BJP tried to do a Mahadevpura but failed due to the strong booth agent network of the local parties
