Zirkzee is way better than people think he is.
I don't think we've let him settle and played him for a string of 10 games.
This preseason he was at the center of every good attack.
Hold the defender off and lay it into the half space.
Once you have the lead he'll draw fouls.

Obviously this is tactical completely on Carrick but not getting signings in defence means we have a slow defence and pressing would become risky. Exact same scenario took place with Ten Hag. Back line was neither high nor low and teams just cut through us like butter.

The worst part about today was watching my team not be hungry and press with intent to get the ball back.
Where was the high press that we saw in preseason?
Apart from Mainoo it felt like everyone just jogged and didn't actually try to win the ball back.

@PaulTay532 @markgoldbridge Why not? Honestly even Cunha at strike doesn't play like a striker. It's basically a 4-2-4 or a 4-4-2. Bruno is playing higher up so Zirkzee could be very effective dropping down and connecting play.

United equalizer was a lucky one. Own goal next. Pen was Mainoo brilliance. A lucky Bruno tap in.
Good combination play in midfied and assist from Bruno to get Mbeumo on the scoresheet.
Without the slip this was going just like the Hull game.
Happy with the win but grounded.

This is how I'd set United up against Ipswich.
4-2-4 in possession with Sesko in the box and Mbeumo and Cunha in the half space.
Lacey brings energy and excitement.
4-1-3-2 or a 4-3-3 in defence where Cunha almost plays like a midfieder and Lacey tracks back.

If Carrick wants to win the fans back he'll do exactly what his gaffer would've done back in the day:
Bench Youri for Mainoo, bench Bruno for not creating or controlling. Start Yoro and Martinez if fit.

That sums up Bruno's performance yesterday. Without Casemiro I highly doubt he comes anywhere near 20 assists.
He should've been sold 2 years ago.
People will say it's a bad reaction to one loss but you can't build a team around innacurate long balls and attempted set pieces.
