I have learnt from Kenyan contacts between 40-50% of senior and mid-level Somali officials serving in government in Mogadishu may own a Kenyan passport or ID, fraudulently acquired.

This is astounding.

The Kenyan Immigration, Intelligence and Security Services are all now working in coordination to quietly cancel these IDs and passports.

A second high-ranking Somali official was turned back from JKIA this week for owning a Kenyan passport.

Meanwhile, Somalia has summoned Kenyan ambassador in Mogadishu to protest this embarrassing incidents at JKIA.

The Somalian proxy forces illegally occupying Somaliland’s East Sool region are rapidly unraveling. The group is plagued by severe financial shortages (previously sustained by Somalian money and diaspora extortion), demoralised fighters, a growing hunger crisis, and soaring food prices in Las Anod, while its leadership is locked in bitter internal feuds.

Their political bureau is fracturing under waves of defections and is sharply divided over its future: whether to surrender to Somaliland, remain a Somalian proxy, or merge with the Majeerteen territories in northern Somalia. Public beatings and intimidation of members signal deepening disarray. Top rebel commander Firdhiye is now facing strong calls to resign after 11 members of his informal council reportedly contacted Hargeisa seeking safe passage following the defection of his most trusted female lieutenant to Hargeisa.

Somaliland will not utilise any force against the group and will encourage them to surrender to the government in Hargeisa while conditions are favourable to them. The longer they remain in that barren desert, the greater the possibility of full military operation when the government feels it’s necessary including the possibility of drone strike on key leaders.
