FDR was a shit president and the closest America has ever come to a dictator.

-He was the only U.S. president to serve more than two terms and literally had to die in office to leave it. Term limits were literally added because of him. Previously, it was just a respected tradition.

-He authorized the internment of over 110,000 Japanese Americans, most of them U.S. citizens, stripping them of their rights and throwing them into concentration camps.

-He confiscated all privately held gold, criminalizing gold ownership and forcing Americans to sell it to the government at a fixed price. Then raised the price afterward, devaluing the dollar.

-When the Supreme Court struck down multiple New Deal programs as unconstitutional, he threatened to pack the Court by adding extra justices who would ok his policies.

-During the Great Depression, the Roosevelt administration paid farmers to destroy crops and slaughter livestock to artificially raise prices, even while millions were starving.

-He refused to support anti-lynching legislation, fearing it would alienate Southern Democrats. Despite repeated efforts by civil rights groups, he prioritized political alliances over human rights.
