As part of our geography topic of volcanoes and our science topic of rocks year 3 went on a hunt around school for rocks to identify if they were igneous, sedimentary or metamorphic.

Congratulations to our Year 3 gymnasts who were awarded silver medals for their amazing floor and vault routines. The children have had a fabulous afternoon of gymnastics fun!
Wow, we have some talented architects at St Augustine's. In preparation for today, there has been lots of hard work. The class have been: planning their castles, creating nets for their prototypes and learning about different joins. The children were so excited.
On Monday, Year 2 learned how Jesus cared for the sick and how we can follow his example. Through role-play, we explored the Sacrament of the Sick and its power to bring comfort and healing. 📷📷
Reception have loved learning about Chinese New Year last week. Last Friday they made Chinese food and had a go at eating with chopsticks. They also entertained the rest of the school with their dragon dance as they visited each class.
Year 3 have been learning the story of The Prodigal Son in RE so we decided to use our English skills to write it in our own words. We are so proud of our work and we worked so hard.
In science today Year 3 looked at how magnets attract or repel. We then created our own compass with a magnet. We were fascinated to see how the magnet span around on the water to always face north.
A group of Reception children worked collaboratively today to create a fantastic airport in the construction area. Tomorrow they are going to add some aeroplanes. Great teamwork Reception!
The passports are ready for our whole school pilgrimage tomorrow. The Holy doors look fantastic and it will be wonderful for the children to take a moment to pray and reflect as they visit each door and get their passports stamped.

Year 3 are really proud of their writing. We have been reading Escape from Pompeii and started to create our own version of it and started to edit our work.
Year 3 used their map skills in Geography to locate some mountain ranges including the Alps, the Andes and the Himalayas. We have been learning about volcanoes and mountains.
