Rare chance to hear Walton’s Cantico del Sole at #ChoralEvensong this Harvest Sunday, 5:30pm. It sets Francis of Assisi’s great hymn praising God’s Creation.

This mid-century PR shot of Walton holding a Koala – sadly now an endangered species – reminds us of the urgent need to change our relationship with the natural world.

William Byrd was a Gentleman of the Chapel Royal in the court of Elizabeth I. She wanted its music to reflect the splendour of the throne so Byrd had some musical freedom despite the Protestant composition restrictions. He fully expressed these in the exuberant anthem, "Sing joyfully", which you can hear at #ChoralEvensong.

The morning setting at #ChoralEucharist is by William Walton and will be welcome if you are in a rush – it's his Missa brevis (short mass) which he described as "very brevis" but that does not distract from its quality.

One of the anthems is "Panis angelicus" by Cesar Frank arranged by Andrew Gant, formerly @StBrides_Choir, who followed Byrd by serving as a Gentleman of the Chapel Royal.
