This week we have been so impressed with the year 11's timelines on Mary Queen of Scot's life. This student has even linked her timeline to Catholic Plots against Elizabeth I's life.
Today, 8b1 were learning about the consequences of the Great Fire of London and Christopher Wren's subsequent achievements. They produced their own detailed plans on how they would rebuild London and how they would commemorate the Great Fire too. There were some fantastic ideas!

Here we have the Battle of the Somme, a Plague Doctor and the contenders to the throne (William the Conqueror, Harold Godwinson and Harald Hardrada) battling to be King of England in 1066!

At 7.30am on 1 July 1916 the Battle of the Somme began. Over 150,000 Commonwealth servicemen lie buried in 250 military and 150 civilian cemeteries on the Somme. Six memorials to the missing commemorate by name over 100,000 whose graves are not known. #Somme105#WeAreCWGC#WW1
On this day, 105 years ago, the Battle of the Somme was launched. Following a week long bombardment, 100,000 men climbed over the top to attack the German trenches. By the end of the first day, the British had suffered 57,470 casualties with 19,240 men killed. #Somme105
