Found this lovely Velvet Shank fungus ( Flammulina velutipes) on a dead elder stump in the Community Orchard. It is one of the few mushrooms that fruits in winter. #fungi #mushrooms @SussexWildlife

#AppleDay this Sunday 22nd Sept at Fletcher’s Croft, Steyning. BN44 3XZ 1pm to 4pm. We’ll carry on whatever the weather! Juicing, live music, beer, cider, appley food, apple display and tastings, fruit growing advice. Loads of kids activities and face painter.

Planted another 8 trees in 2 of our orchards, all sponsored by local people. In just 5 years we have planted over 100 fruit trees in the area. Thanks to @wildsussex for supply of locally sourced sweet chestnut posts, and @keepersnursery for quality fruit trees.
