Juneteenth commemorates June 19, 1865. On this day, Union soldiers finally arrived in Galveston to announce that the Civil War had ended and that all enslaved people were free.
All branches of St. John the Baptist Parish Library will be closed on Friday, June 19th in observance of the Juneteenth holiday. We will reopen at normal operating hours on Saturday, June 20th.
This week's special story time sessions with be themed around "Shrek" and feature performers from this year's summer musical at St. John Theatre. Come down to the swamp today in Reserve, Wednesday in LaPlace, and Thursday in Garyville.
