HISTORIC STATE CHAMPIONS! 🏆🥎
The St. Mary's Colgan Lady Panthers just put on an absolute masterclass at KU Rock Chalk Park to claim the Kansas 2-1A State Championship!
Under first-year Head Coach Cassie Rhuems, this incredible squad entered the tournament as the number 5 seed and went on an absolute tear, finishing the year at an unbelievable 24-3 record!
Look at this championship run:
💥 Quarterfinals: Defeated number 4 Inman 9-4 on Memorial Monday!
💥 Semifinals: Shut out number 1 Cedar Vale/Dexter 7-0!
💥 Championship: Shut out number 2 Mission Valley 5-0!
Speaking of BOMBS, junior superstar Bella Ascanio absolutely dominated the circle and the plate! She launched her 10th home run of the season right into orbit during the title game! 💣🔥
On the rubber, Bella was completely untouchable, throwing a complete tournament! In the championship game, she tossed a 1-hitter with 12 strikeouts! Her total tournament stats are mind-blowing: 21 innings, 34 strikeouts, and only 4 runs allowed.
Bella wraps up an spectacular junior season pitching 185 innings with 299 strikeouts, a 1.018 ERA, a .819 WHIP, and holding opponents to a tiny .157 batting average. At the plate, she hit .471 on the year with a team-leading 44 RBIs and a 1.597 OPS! 🤯💪
This marks the 4th Softball Title in Colgan history, and the craziest part? This team did it with ZERO seniors on the roster! 🤩 The future is blindingly bright in Pittsburg!
Huge congrats to Head Coach Cassie Rhuems on her 6th career state title—and her 3rd consecutive championship after winning the last two years at Frontenac!

St. Mary’s Colgan 2-1A State Baseball Champions ⚾️
St. Mary’s-Colgan added another trophy to one of the most dominant dynasties in Kansas high school baseball history Friday.
The Panthers captured the 2026 KSHSAA 2-1A state championship at Tointon Family Stadium with a 7-3 victory over TMP-Marian, giving legendary head coach Mike Watt his 19th state title. Even more impressive, all 19 championships have come since he won his first in 1993.
Brady Crossland turned in one of the day’s biggest performances, driving in three runs while also getting the start on the mound. Crossland and Brock Radell helped fuel a pivotal third inning that gave Colgan its first lead of the game. Brady Badart then slammed the door in relief, tossing three scoreless innings while adding two stolen bases as the Panthers kept the pressure on TMP throughout the afternoon.
Emma Hale of SIK caught up with Coach Watt, Senior Brady Badart and Senior Brady Crossland after their win yesterday. #sportsinkansas
