Why does @BishopBoyea think that a second dose of training/treatment regarding inability to maintain healthy boundaries will work for @FrJimRolph when it didn't work the first time? Being mentally unhealthy & unable to understand boundaries is not something you can fix in 2 months. We hope to see the Diocese of Lansing extend his stay and review whether or not a priest who can't maintain boundaries should be head pastor of a parish. Especially one with a school. #spiritualabuse is abuse.
Nadja was slowly being groomed into believing that she was under constant attack by the devil and demons. She was becoming convinced that her only escape was to submit herself completely to Fr. Rolph’s authority.
Christianity does not look like praying and singing and giving money while ignoring the screams, unspeakable suffering, filth, and death of others. Christianity is not calling others *them*— somehow unlike us, not human, deserving of their suffering.
We could start talking about the dysfunction instead. In the past 20 years how many priests ordained at SHMS asked to leave or expressed a desire to leave seminary & were coerced to stay? How many men from the Lansing diocese (Ralph's home) were prayed over and told what their vocation was despite their own discernment? How many were given the impression that making the "wrong choice," despite their feelings & mental health, would be catastrophic for their life? How many of us have had to deal w/ priests harboring a great deal of anger, resentment, & mental health issues because of it?
Fr. John Rocus's actions are a form of grooming. Safe environment & clerical conduct policies are worthless if you allow a priest to continuously platform an alleged child rapist. @BishopBoyea what are you going to do about Rocus? This has to stop
@BishopBoyea@StMaryMacKillop Apparently Fr. Rocus and Fr. Lobert have TV & dinner date night (at least) once a week. No wonder Rocus is so dedicated to defending Lobert.
It is inconceivable that any parish in the Diocese of Lansing would host a party to celebrate an alleged child rapist who is suspended from ministry. Opening it to the public on church property is a violation of safe environment. We expect @bishopboyea to act immediately.
** Catholic parish to publicly honor priest suspended for child sexual abuse allegations**
Holy Spirit parish in Brighton, MI plans to host an ordination anniversary party for Fr. Richard Lobert on May 10, despite the priest's removal from ministry.
@BishopBoyea must stop this.
Amplifying: I’m looking to speak to people who have undergone deliverance and/or exorcism with Father Chad Ripperger.

The MI AG Diocese of Lansing report is out & we've heard nothing but impression management from the DOL & crickets from most of its priests. It's way past time for the MI legislature to address a crisis that is a strain on the health and financial wellbeing of our communities.
The MI legislature failed to pass the Justice for Survivors bill package. Some people imagine that Catholic dioceses are helping survivors....I'll explain from my own experience how cruel those arrangements are & how they steal agency from us. Most bishops behave as if we should be begging for anything we get while singing their praises. No More. We want what we're owed in order to seek healing on our own terms. Michiganders are tired of shouldering the burden of clergy abuse. Let's put the burden back where it belongs #JusticeForSurvivors @GovWhitmer
Fr. Martins is a test of these policies around reporting and a test of whether or not the prevailing culture can allow for, in this instance, a father and daughter to express discomfort with the physical touches of a priest.
The idea that his intentions are prioritized over the perception of the touch by the person he touched and their father shows that the Church has not learned since the Dallas Charter.
Fr. Martins does not have to be an abuser nor does he have to abuse to have violated the policies put in place the protection children and create a culture aware of child safety and boundaries.
This policies are there to directly attack the toxic elements that are at play in the ecclesial culture of the Church that allow harm. Everyone is made less safe by the reaction of Fr. Martins followers in response to this incident.
Starting with more simple forms of touch to "build rapport" is the definition of grooming. Touch means much more amongst celibate individuals. This is gross, physically inappropriate behavior that demands disciplinary action. Fr. Martin should not have access to children.
Lawyers for a priest accused of an “incident” which halted a nationwide relic tour say that Fr. Carlos Martins touched a student’s hair last week to build “rapport,” and police are investigating the matter only at the insistence of an “outraged father.”

The Attorney General’s Office contends that religious exemptions should not apply to secular misconduct like child sex abuse, according to the KUOW report. CatholicVote org. https://t.co/w2I8J0PPDR
The document does not include @bishopboyea signature. To our knowledge, this has not been publicized before today although it may have already been shared with clergy and staff. It is long overdue & only the first step in reigning in spiritual abuse in the DOL.
A document from the Diocese of Lansing about changes to General Norms involving healing/deliverance ministries was leaked to us this morning. Changes are alleged to be in response to multiple incidents involving @EncounterMinis , Christ The King Ann Arbor, Kairos & idv clergy 1/2
If you have to go to residential treatment, you should request laicization. The priesthood isn't for people w/ these types of issues. Go get a normal job, live a life not in authority over vulnerable people.
The test of the prophet is not found in the prophet’s words. It is found in the prophet’s life. A superb and brilliant preacher, theologically orthodox, who bullies, is rude, dismissive is leaking fruit. Jesus says to beware of such people.
Bob Schucht's programs are not theologically sound & are causing damage to an untold number of vulnerable people. If @JPIIHealing has any concern at all for the damage they've caused, they will stop operating & reflect. @bishopboyea ban these programs from your diocese now.
When lay people work together to reject a priest's ministry, they can make a difference. His ministry should be rejected anywhere they attempt to reassign him.
Contrary to popular belief, children are not resilient, a word which simply means they can return to their original state. They do not “bounce back” from abuse.
1/3 - This quote highlights the profound effects of spiritual abuse on individuals. Survivors often face:
— Emotional and Psychological Trauma
— Loss of Faith
— Identity Confusion
— Trust Issues
Teach your church that any form of abuse is NEVER acceptable to God no matter who does it or how important the abuser is. Call your people to holiness in all the corners of their lives.
If you're an adult who has been abused by a faith leader and are struggling, please reach out to @RestoredVoices. They are an amazing community of survivors of adult clergy abuse who will walk alongside you every step of the way. https://t.co/Xvubr7n99H
