Proud to share my story of living with Crohn's Disease and applying for Nursing with @CrohnsColitisUK. This was a therapeutic process, and I hope that it may inspire others living with #IBD to chase their dreams. #StudentNurse#IBDSuperHeroes#WeStNs

After dealing with Crohn's Disease complications since mid-November I am finally feeling ready to tackle my final 2 placements before becoming a Registered Mental Health Nurse, the biggest thing I have learnt about myself during this course is my own resilience. #NursesWeek
Happy Mental Health Nurses day to all of my fellow MH Nurses. Today is as good a day as any to reshare how mt Crohn's Disease diagnosis inspired me to become a MH Nurse (written for @CrohnsColitisUK).

If you're a facilitator of online training consider that we are in a cost of living crisis before announcing attendees should be dressed "professionally". Behind told to wear a short or smart jumper when it's 0 degrees and heating is expensive is bizarre. My bursary is very thin.
Happy new year all! Not the start I imagined, travelled from London to my hometown and became ill, now my partner is also ill. Tis the season of infectious illness, on a happier note though 2023 is the year I will (hopefully) qualify as a Mental Health Nurse, so there is hope yet
Can't express my support enough to the nurses striking today, thank you for taking a stand for us!! As a future nurse, and the son of a nurse I'm beyond grateful. #FairPayforNursing#NursesStrike#StudentNurse#StN
8 years to the day since I graduated from university in London with a music degree. If you'd of told me then that I'd be returning to post graduate studies in the future I'd of probably cried. Alas, here we are...dust your hats of kids, there'll be another graduation next year π
I have placement coming up and ATM my head is a mess with anxiety about what I'm going to do. Things shouldn't be this difficult, when is someone going to do something about the difficulty people have just *living* in this country. @UKParliament
myself and my partner are facing the very real possibility of homelessness. Our landlord is selling the property and served us with notice, we have to be out by 16/11/23. Every offer we have put forward has been rejected, many agents disregard my income because I'm a student.
In this moment I am really struggling to feel happy being a student nurse. I'm paying to train, and because I'm training I am basically ignored when it comes to finding somewhere to live. Currently waiting to hear from local authority for advice/support. This is really tough.
For me, the ultimate clue that tonight's @amateuradam show was full of health care professionals was that in the men's toilets everyone was taking longer than 3 seconds to wash their hands. Great show #thisisgonnahurtmore
can't even begin to imagine how much all of my IBD treatments would cost, I do know that one of the drugs I'm given every few weeks costs around Β£1500. If I had to raise that cash myself it would probably destroy my life.
Seeing an American woman share that she 'only' paid $250 for being in hospital and giving birth to her son is actually so bleak. We don't realise how lucky we are to have the NHS.
Meanwhile student nurses are told not to work during placements, but we literally cannot afford to live. Student nurses should be paid a realistic income to train. #Students#studentnurse#wenurses
Students have been totally forgotten about in this financial crisis. We already get an extremely low amount of finance to cover the cost of living, with all the price rises it really makes no sense that it remains extremely low. I question how I'll get through another year.
My partner just opened a pack of raw chicken and now the whole flat smells like rotten egg. He's convinced that it's safe to eat, so obviously my question for you lot is can claim back the time I spend administering CPR later today towards my Nursing Placement hours?
As a student mental health nurse discovering the work of @owenokaneten has been an absolute blessing, from podcasts, to ted talks to his books I'm blown away by this man's insight. I wish I could do a clinical placement day with Owen tbf π . Thanks for all of your great work π
There have been moments during this last year if I am cut out to complete my nurse training, it has been really challenging. Far more challenging than I've let on. But I will do this, I am pretty much half way now. I can see the finish line ππΎ
At my previous nursing placement I found it extremely physically challenging, constantly tired and sometimes very unwell. I convinced myself I was just a bit out of shape, but yesterday my hospital informed my that my #crohnsdisease is once again very active. @IBDSuperHeroes
I need to be kinder to myself. I share a lot about living with Crohn's disease, but I also never cut myself any slack and often expect too much. I will be spending this weekend giving myself much needed rest before we begin planning my next course of action/treatment.
