Year 5 are continuing our new History of the ‘The Tudors’ and will be using the timelines we created in our last lesson. We plotted different events from history chronologically on a timeline and added some key events during the Tudor period. #TeamStPhilips@StPhilipCEAP
To introduce our new science topic on forces, Year 5 completed a fair test to see if the surface area of a piece of paper would affect the time it takes to fall to the ground. They discovered that as surface area decreases, gravity increases! #teamstphilips@StPhilipCEAP
Year 5 were transported to the Tudor era to start our new history topic today! To begin, they plotted different events through history chronologically on a timeline, including historical events relating to the Tudors such as the War of the Roses #teamstphilips@StPhilipCEAP
Year 5 have had their say! After creating their own persuasive presentations for which animal they wanted to adopt for Christmas, they have voted for… Giant Pandas! 🐼 #teamstphilips@StPhilipCEAP
Year 5 are so ready to share our Christmas Play, How Christmas Came to Be, with you all! What are these pictures all about? You’ll have to come and see our performance to find out! 🎄#teamstphilips@StPhilipCEAP
Year 5 have been exploring how to use the technique of shading using different sketching pencils and colour matching with paint to attempt to emulate the work of Beatriz Milhazes in our art lessons 🎨 #teamstphilips@StPhilipCEAP#stphilipsartY5
We have had such a creative morning with @thelowry learning how to collage like Beatriz Milhazes - the artist we are studying this half term. Year 5 had to be controlled and methodical in their decision making to create an abstract collage as a team @StPhilipCEAP#teamstphilips
How exciting that two children shared their religions with us! After learning about the Qur’an in RE, one child brought hers in and even read some to us! Also, as it is Diwali today, one child shared her traditions and how she is celebrating 🕯️#teamstphilips@StPhilipCEAP
Yesterday, we created our Mayan quilt squares using running, back and blanket stitch. The designs were so intricate and their concentration was infectious! Some children went to explain the process to @StPhilipsY5C ahead of creating their own today @StPhilipCEAP#teamstphilips
Year 5 have really enjoyed starting our new reading book and discovering it’s by the same author as our English book - and tells the same story! We’ve been making comparisons between the two texts whilst learning about these extraordinary women! 📖 #teamstphilips@stphilipceap
