An interesting aspect of St Mary de Castro church in Leicester is its two sets of sedilia and its two piscinas.
Pictured here is the sedilia and piscina in the sanctuary.
Sedilia are used as seats for clergy, while the piscina is a small basin for washing communion vessels.

#RomanesqueSculpture Volto Santo (Holy Face) wooden crucifix were believed to be made by Nicodemus after the resurrection of Christ. He carved the body before falling asleep, when awaken the face was miraculously complete. Most famous version in Lucca, Italy 🧵
