I took my time to listen to the EFCC Space hosted via their official X page on the topic:
“Is Forex Trading Illegal?”
The answer was stated categorically and, in my opinion, is important information for the public, especially for those who constantly assume that Forex trading is a scam or illegal.
According to the response given during the Space:
Forex trading is legal when you’re using your own personal funds to trade forex online through an international or local broker. You do not need a special regulatory licence simply to trade your own account.
However…
Once you start managing other people’s money, accepting investments from the public, or trading on behalf of investors, that becomes a completely different ball game.
In such cases, you may be required to register and obtain the appropriate licence from the relevant regulatory authorities, such as the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC Nigeria) or Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), depending on the nature of the activity.
Trading or managing other people’s funds without the required license can constitute an illegal act.
So understand the difference:
Trading your own money ≠ Managing other people’s money.
The Space also clarified that the EFCC is not the regulatory body for the Forex trading industry. Its role is primarily that of a law enforcement agency, including investigating and prosecuting financial crimes within its mandate.
Another important point raised:
Misleading the public by displaying trading profits or results that were not actually generated through real-time trading can also constitute an illegal act, particularly where such representations are used to deceive people.
This is important information that every trader, mentor, broker, fund manager and aspiring trader should understand.
Know the law. Know the difference. Trade responsibly.
Repost this so others can know. ⚡️
If your parents tell you , you should own your own home today. This is what you should show them.
This doesn’t excuse you from making little with what you have. Yes, you live in very different times but you also have different opportunities that they didn’t have.
Learn to build up your skills, invest and diversify.
That is the most inflation proof thing you can do for yourself.
Whatever you are earning today, please take out something to invest.
To every young person out there . I’m rooting for you.

Joseph didn't wait for the famine to start planning for it.
Seven years of plenty came first.
While Egypt ate well and spent freely, Joseph stored a fifth of every harvest.
No one thanked him for it. It looked unnecessary. Grain sitting in silos instead of being enjoyed.
Then the seven years of famine came. Every nation around Egypt ran out. Egypt didn't.
The lesson isn't about grain. It's about what you do in the season when things are working.
That's when the reserve gets built, not after the shortage starts.
Your "years of plenty" might be a stable salary. A good month. A bonus.
What you do with it now decides what you have when the season turns.
What's your version of storing grain right now?
Your bank account will only grow as much as your mind does.
Here are my top 4 picks for 2026.
The Richest Man in Babylon (George S. Clason): The Bible of personal finance. It teaches the 10% rule paying yourself first before paying any bills.
The Psychology of Money (Morgan Housel): This helps you understand why you spend impulsively or fear the market. Essential for staying calm during a dip.
Rich Dad Poor Dad (Robert Kiyosaki): The classic guide to understanding the difference between an asset (stocks) and a liability (that new car).
The Intelligent Investor (Benjamin Graham): A bit more technical, but it’s the ultimate guide for Value Investing buying stocks when they are cheap
Diversification means spreading your money across different assets so that no single investment can sink your entire portfolio.
If you hold only bank stocks and the banking sector has a bad year, your whole portfolio suffers.
Add consumer goods, industrial companies, and fixed income instruments, and a bad year in one sector gets cushioned by stability or gains elsewhere.
Diversification will not stop you from losing money in any given year. It stops you from losing everything at once.
Young people, please remember you are African.
There is a culture of respect we were raised with. You don’t wake up one morning and start calling your uncle by his first name because you watched some Western movies on Netflix.
Mr Tony is not your mate. 😭
Yes, some traditions need to go. But must we throw away every good value because we are trying so hard to be “woke”?
Respect your elders. Honour your culture. You are African. Act like it.
My General manager at the company I worked at, a very accomplished man in his early 50’s told me on my first day on the job – call me Steve. I said understood sir. He said, no, drop the sir, I mean it. I told him plainly – I hear you, but it’s just not how I operate, but I’ll try.
In my almost 3 years at the company, I couldn’t work up the nerve to call him Steve. I called him Boss – he’s my boss afterall. Safer for me, more comfortable for him.
It’s called ‘sense’. These kids need to learn some sense.
