@AlanAshby if all the intruments fail or a plane loses EVERYTHING on board they have a system called a RAT (ram air turbine) that they can deploy to recover systems if need be but if you have to deploy those your kinda already in a shit spot anyway

@AlanAshby ive been in aerospace for 8-9 years and the size and cost to put a parachute on a airliner as big as the brand new 777X from boeing would be enormous. its impractical let alone how would you store it on the airplane safely. there is always a backup but not this kind.
