After two weeks of hard work, we have completed our mission in Jamaica, following the devastation caused by Hurricane Melissa.
Thank you for giving us the opportunity to help.
God willing, youโll be back on your feet soon.
Minister Daryl Vaz reports that 67 percent of Jamaica Public Service customers, representing approximately 686,000 households and businesses, have had power restored across the island, while 77 percent of major hospitals are now back on the grid.
Both Norman Manley and Sangster International Airports remain fully operational, along with Ian Fleming International Airport. Seaports have also reopened, and container vessels have started arriving, ensuring the continued flow of humanitarian and relief supplies.
Minister Vaz addressed misinformation regarding relief cargo handling, confirming that investigations and video evidence verified that all shipments left the airport intact and were properly transferred to the designated charitable organization. He reaffirmed the governmentโs commitment to transparency, accountability, and efficient coordination of national recovery efforts.
There were 15+ Consignees on the shipment. It was not just items sent by Mark Myrie. 3 barrels were consigned to him from the flight.
Many other persons had items on the flight.
@DawkinsEon88705 @darylvazmp We are too dishonest hence we canโt trust most of the times we lie in paper and then cry thief you are suppose to tell what you shipping how you ship starlink and stove and it is not in the paper
@DelightedJa@darylvazmp But the list is not lying there is no mention of stove and Starlings on the list
If you say you miss these things and them not on the list someone is lying
Though I cannot deny that custom processes have been far from perfect for many years but every instance or complaint must be investigated on its merit.
As a result of the numerous cargo flights received each day, there is no warehousing or relocation of shipments received in most cases.
For this particular shipment, it went straight to the truck from the runway. Images of all pallets were taken and sent.
Your leadership during this crisis is greatly valued. Despite efforts by some to disparage you, it is crucial to acknowledge that you have a more substantial base of support. Continue to strive for excellence, as history will ultimately be kind to you. #ChooseJamaica.
The Government of Jamaica, on Tuesday (November 4), received a large shipment of hurricane relief supplies from several of the islandโs international partners.
The shipment of 15 containers with more than 150 tonnes of relief material and equipment, arrived aboard the Dutch Navy support ship, HNLMS Pelikaan, from its base in Curaรงao.
Big Update: The Jamaica Defence Force has established 22 humanitarian assistance and disaster relief outposts to scale up the response to marooned communities in the aftermath of Hurricane Melissa.
My Jamaican family, especially those in the parishes of Westmoreland, Hanover, Trelawny, St. James, and St. Elizabeth, we know you have been hardest hit by Hurricane Melissa, and we know that your needs are urgent. Many of you are anxious and still processing the trauma of an event few could have imagined.
We want to assure you that we are working, every hour of every day, to reach you.
The Jamaica Defence Force, the National Works Agency, the Jamaica Constabulary Force, and our Fire Brigade are on the ground, clearing blocked roads and re-establishing access to communities that remain cut off.
We have welcomed a 300-member humanitarian team from El Salvador, trained in search and rescue, public order, disaster response, and health care. They have arrived with medical supplies and essential relief. We are also working closely with the United States to enhance air support, with helicopters now supplementing the JDF fleet to accelerate aid delivery.
These are tangible examples of how we are mobilizing all available local and international partnerships to ensure every community receives assistance.
We ask for your continued patience and understanding. The Government of Jamaica remains steadfast in our commitment to bring help to every person in need.
Help is coming. We will be there for you.
