We call it the greatest nation in the world, but let’s be clear about why it became that way.

It wasn’t corporate lobbyists.
It wasn’t tax breaks for billionaires.
It wasn’t whatever Trump’s doing with windmills and B-2 flyovers.

It was Democrats.

- Democrats pulled America out of the Great Depression
- Democrats created Social Security
- Democrats won World War II
- Democrats passed Civil Rights legislation
- Democrats delivered the last balanced budget this country has ever seen

So if you’re eating, voting, aging with dignity, or living in a democracy where your rights are protected, thank a Democrat.

This country didn’t become powerful by accident. It became powerful because the people who actually gave a damn about working families showed up when it mattered most.

Never forget who builds, and who just breaks things for clout.

Laughing in front of cages designed to hold migrants and refugees, many of whom came to this country fleeing extreme violence and poverty, and hoping to raise their children in a more compassionate country. And many of whom followed all the legal procedures to enter the country. And remember, 93% have no record of any violent crimes. This facility, then, is comparable to the internment camps for Japanese Americans during the Second World War. But let's call it what it is: a concentration camp. Jesus wept.
