Why does pump have to be the leader forever? @RuneCrypto_

Crypto is very very young and to me PumpFun is like Nokia or Blackberry.

They were important, they were the early innovators but Apple, Samsung etc pushed further and the early were eventually replaced.

Also reminds me of the food delivery business the early leaders were replaced with the likes of Uber/Doordash/Grab/Deliveroo.

I see the same thing happening with many things happening onchain.

Fomo is 18 months old, it’s slowly taken share from others, someone will do the same to pump no doubt.

Big companies don’t die off instantly, but you can spot a downfall when it starts. Slowly slowly @Pumpfun will fade away unless they decide to truly care/innovate and AIRDROP, but i don’t see it happening.

Pumpfun is the biggest company in the trenches: $2B+ in cash, $4.4B valuation, the most dominant platform onchain this cycle

but their entire product strategy since creating bonding curves is copying whatever works somewhere else.

axiom → pump acquired padre, rebranded it to "terminal"
fomo → pump added social features onto their app and started poaching KOLs
stonk built the memecoin-paired-with-stocks launchpad (after it was already on BNB & RH first) → pump just launched the same thing

every single product expansion has been a reaction, not an innovation. someone else builds it, proves the market, and pump copies it with more resources

and it's not that it doesn't work: padre went from 2% to 10% market share after the acquisition

they have infinite resources, but if you want to win, you need to innovate

pumpfun launched the bonding curve launchpad, that was genuinely innovative and the reason is at $4.4B valuation. everything since has been "someone else proved this works, let's copy it"

with $2B in cash and the best team in crypto, they could be building things nobody's seen before. instead they're building things everyone's already seen, just with a bigger budget, killing indie teams dreams, making enemies with every other player in the game

the trenches need pump to innovate because when the biggest player only copies, the entire space moves slower

the incentive for small teams to build something new gets killed when they know pump will just replicate it the moment it works. why would you build the next fomo if you know pump will copy it in 3 months and outspend you?

this isn't hate, pump is the most important company in the trenches. that's exactly why it matters. when you're the biggest, copying isn't a strategy: it's a ceiling. for you and for everyone else

the trenches deserve better than the same product with a different logo every quarter
