NEW: The captain accused of operating an illegal charter boat that capsized in New York Harbor, killing a 27-year-old mother and her baby, is an illegal immigrant and is now in custody.

Authorities say Manuel Ernesto Hernandez-Umana does not have a captain's license and is accused of illegally operating the charter when the deadly trip turned tragic.

DHS says Hernandez-Umana crossed the border in 2007 and falsely claimed U.S. citizenship. The agency says it will ensure he is removed from the country after he faces justice.

Florida woman films herself starting a fire in her kitchen and pouring hot wax on her children.

Meliza Campos-Sanchez was arrested and charged with child abuse, child neglect, and arson.

Her husband says they were going through marital issues and he had contacted the sheriff's office a week before the incident, voicing concerns for his children.

He was staying with his parents at the time of the incident.

🚨 BABYSITTER KIDNAPS TWO LITTLE GIRLS

Atlanta police just rescued two young sisters after their babysitter disappeared with them.

Officers tracked her to a trailer, forced their way in, and found the kids inside. One officer can be heard saying, “You have the baby?” as a child cries in the background.

The woman, Lakesha Brown, faces kidnapping charges. She already had a separate kidnapping case pending in Alabama and skipped her trial.

Mom met her through a mothers’ group and trusted her enough to leave the girls for the first time. Thank God those kids are home.
