I’d argue that public expenditures have the potential to be far more efficient than any money spent privately if used effectively. The answer is to engage with a transparent and accountable government, not reduce taxes.

I’ll never understand why people are so fucking opposed to paying taxes. Like there’s so many things that couldn’t exist without taxes that dramatically improve lives.

@itsJeremyR I fully agree that the way our taxes are spent is incongruous with the needs and desires of the country. But the answer to an oversized military budget isn’t to elect a bunch of war mongerers because they promise to tax you less.

And I get not trusting the government to use your tax monies effectively, but the answer isn’t to cripple the governments ability to function, it’s to actively participate in steering the government’s actions towards the betterment of society.
