Michael Staines

A key figure in the Rising, serving as Quartermaster General in the GPO, was promoted shortly beforehand, was later interned with other insurgents at Frongoch camp in Wales, one of around 1800 prisoners. He went on to become Ireland’s first Garda Commissioner.

The great Len Deighton dead ( he wouldnt have wanted euphemisms) at 97. Here's my 1962 paperback of Ipcress ( the best of all spy films by the way) - I devoured a his novels but also his " cookstrips" which really taught me how to do it..
